Fun Fact Friday: Did you know reindeer are built for the holidays? 🎄❄️

Reindeer are made for Arctic life with thick, double-layered coats and hooves that adapt to snowy or wet terrain. Their noses even have a special network of blood vessels that increase blood flow in cold weather, warming the air they breathe and preventing their noses from freezing. This extra blood flow can give their noses a reddish glow—sound familiar?

Timber Trails will have adjusted hours for the holiday season:

• Closed: December 24–26
• Open: December 27 (tech appointments ONLY – no doctor on-site)
• Open: December 31, 7:00 AM–11:30 AM
• Closed: January 1

Fun Fact Friday: Ducks and Their Sleep Habits 🦆 😴

Did you know that ducks can sleep with one eye open? This incredible ability is called unihemispheric slow-wave sleep, meaning one half of their brain stays awake while the other half rests.

This adaptation allows ducks to stay alert for predators, especially when they’re in groups or on the water. Ducks often take turns being the “lookout” while others fully rest, showing just how clever and cooperative they are!

✨ Meet Howard, an adorable 9-week-old tuxedo kitten! ✨
Howard visited us at Timber Trails Animal Hospital for his first checkup and weighed in at a mighty 2.2 pounds. His favorite toy? A hope spinner! 🌀 Favorite treat? Still TBD—he’s keeping us guessing!

Howard charmed everyone during his visit, and we can’t wait to see him grow up strong and healthy. 💕

What’s a Tech Visit?

Have you ever been asked if you’re okay with a “tech visit”? Here’s what that means!

If your pet is up to date on their annual exam, we offer scheduled appointments for specific services that doesn’t require a full exam with the doctor. During a tech visit, one of our certified veterinary technicians (CVTs) or assistants will take care of your pet’s needs, such as:
🐾 Updating annual vaccines
🐾 Nail trims
🐾 A**l gland expression
🐾 Monthly injections
🐾 Heartworm test & prevention
