WORST THING FOR YOUR NEW PUPPY…
Is keeping them in a bubble at home.
The first 16 weeks of life shapes your puppy for a lifetime! They can’t be placed down on any public ground yet until they have all their shots, and often times this gets mistaken as a need to keep them home and isolated. Keeping them home is going to create dog that may be reactive, have separation anxiety, not properly socialized, and other bad behaviors since they didn’t get to experience new things early on.

Keep walking and tell your dog “let’s go” when you see another dog on leash. Do NOT ever let your dog greet another dog on leash face to face. There is nothing natural about this encounter and all it does is heighten anxiety and fear.
Butts are best! That’s how they get to know each other . If you want a dog to interact and say hi it’s best to do so off leash in an area where they can both run freely in a yard and not feel trapped or restricted like a leash will do if they feel uncomfortable and need a break from the other dog.
My favorite leash are ones that have traffic handles so you can control your dog more and move them closer to you when you need to. Opt for 4 ft or 6 ft leashes.

Potty First!!!
Don’t forget to always carry them to the spot, do not let them walk themselves outside or they will have accidents in the home.
It’s your job to make sure they get let out every 30 min to potty especially after eating or drinking.
Keep training treats in your pocket (I like to use mostly kibble since too many treats causes the 💩)
Get a black light to see urine spots they may be missed
Make sure your cleaner says enzyme on it to break down the urine bacteria and prevent them from going again in that spot.

It’s easy to want to be with them all the time especially when you first get your pup, but you really want to start leaving them day 1 for 30 min- hours increments at a time and then over the week extend that away time.
If you’re home always with them, they are going to get extremely attached , so when you do leave it’s going to be a huge melt down.
Make leaving no big deal and don’t show emotion when you leave the house, just a quick bye.
Always put on calming music or country , classical or Tv so they aren’t completely in a silent house.
I like to have a camera on my pups, I use the Wyze brand so I can watch when I’m gone.
Leave them in the pen / or crate and make sure to take their collar off. Accidents happen and they can choke or hang themselves accidentally so if you’re gone just make sure to take that off.
If you start leaving serval times a day , your dog will get used to you leaving and name adjusted that everything is fine because you always come back.

𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐲 to the designated area to potty and place them there. NEVER let your puppy walk out of its crate and follow you outside to potty, THERE WILL BE POTTY ACCIDENTS. You must CARRY them out from the crate.
If your puppy does not go outside to potty when take them after a nap or from waking up, or they just ate their food…. You 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 into crate and try again in 5-10 min. Reason being, if you take them outside and they don’t go and then bring them inside….. they will go in your house. Dogs usually never potty where they sleep so that is why having a crate speeds up the potty training process.
𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐲.
Have treats in your pocket ready to go and reward immediately after they go potty. Make it exciting and positive and give lots of praise! They will want to do it again and again if it means praise and pets!
𝐀𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐮𝐩 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐰𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐰𝐥 𝟐 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. Make sure they go potty before placing them into crate at night. Eliminating water and food 2 hours before will help the urge to potty in middle of night.
𝐈𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 chances are they have to potty. Quietly take them out and don’t engage and just place them and say “potty” you want to be quieter and night time and still give a treat and say “yes” “good potty” . Do not engage in playtime , place the pup back in crate the rest of the night.
