Animals have a way of healing us! 🙏❤️

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'.
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.

'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind🤍🤍🤍

You’ve been diagnosed with PTSD, depression or anxiety and you’ve always loved dogs.

In an article by Kaitlyn Arford entitled 10 Science-Based Benefits of Having a Dog, there are ten different studies about our canine friends that identify the following:
1.Dog ownership reduces loneliness
2.Dog owners have lower blood pressure levels and improved responses to stress
3.Dogs help alleviate stress and anxiety

4.Military veterans with PTSD do better both physiologically and psychologically when they have a service dog
5.Dog owners are nearly four times more likely than non-dog owners to meet daily physical activity guidelines
6.Photographs of people with dogs were considered happier people than photographs of people without dogs
7.40% of dog owners had an easier time making friends
8.People who have a strong attachment to a pet feel more connected in their human relationships and their communities
9.Staring into your dog’s eyes raises your level of oxytocin, known as the “love hormone”
10.Pet therapy improves the cognitive function of seniors and reduces agitated behaviors in seniors with dementia

The Americans With Disabilities Act has identified dogs as the only animal acceptable to be called a “service animal.” A person partnered with a service dog has full public access rights as granted by federal law.

Click the following link for full ADA requirements and more information on the law. https://www.ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm

So now what?

If you do not have a dog, there are some excellent organizations that specialize in training dogs as service animals. While this is not a legal requirement and can be expensive with long wait-lists, it is certainly a viable option an guarantees a well-qualified animal.

Service dogs are trained in the following capacities: allergy detection, autism, diabetes, guide, hearing, mobility assistance, psychiatric and seizure response. Common breeds are Labradors and Golden Retrievers, but there are many others…my personal favorite was my rescue-mutt as pictured above!

Perhaps you already own a dog. How do you know if your dog can be trained to fulfill your service animal needs? Frankly, not every dog can be a service animal.

No matter what we hope, not every dog will be able to serve, and not every dog wearing an identifying vest is actually a service animal. This is an important fact, and one that has been unfortunately overlooked by those who wish to cheat the system or simply believe their dog is trained “well enough.” Potentially debilitating for those who truly need a service animal, simply claiming your dog has a special job (because it makes you smile) can create dangerous situations and unnecessary confrontations.

It takes a unique personality, hard-working demeanor, excellent temperament and desire to do the necessary tasks as well as a solid foundation in obedience training in order to train a service animal.

We can assess your dog’s potential. If s/he meets necessary requirements as indicated above, we can help get you both to the next step!

We offer basic obedience training and will instruct you and your dog on more advanced, service-need based skills.

But before you leave your home to take the world by storm, we strongly recommend you pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen and Community Canine tests. For individuals spending a large amount of time in fast-paced environments, we also suggest the AKC Urban CGC.

Not only do the advanced courses offer recognized certifications, they guarantee that your service animal will always know how to behave properly in any public or private venue. An added bonus is that every moment you spend training your dog is time you spend cultivating the healthy personal bond you need to maintain a long and trustworthy relationship and peace of mind as a team.

If you are interested in our support, please register. Qualifying dogs will be invited to attend a private assessment.

Sometimes life’s circumstances to do not permit us to take our beloved pets with us when we leave home for work, vacations or emergencies.

Many pets do not fare well without their people, developing unwanted behaviors and mental or emotional imbalances during long or regular absences.

Most experts agree to the following regarding leaving a pet alone:
• An adult dog should not be left alone for more than 4-6 hours at a time.
• An adult cat should not be left alone for more than 24 hours at a time.
• An adult bird should not be left alone for more than 12-14 hours at a time.

(All these recommendations have some wiggle room based on your individual pet.)

The reality is that most of us bring pets into our families to spend time with them…to enrich our lives and to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships. But sometimes we can't be there.

That's where Fuzzy Bellies steps in!

Pets do better in their own environments. Moving an animal out of familiar environments, and without their loved ones, causes stress. They often become depressed, distressed or even aggressive.

We offer care in your own home, allowing your pet to remain in the comfortable and safe place they see as their own.

In-home care in your absence provides your pet with:
• Reduced Stress
• Comforting Environment
• Familiar Routine
• Regular Exercise and Mealtimes
• Reduction of Boredom and Loneliness
• Personal Items and Toys
• Connection to Your Smells and Items
• Photographic or Video Diary of our visits

In addition to these benefits, we also offer additional services such as basic obedience training or reiki during our visits as is often requested by our clients.

And, hey, we’ll even bring in your mail!

We are bonded and insured.

For those who love animals, they are a beautiful and integral part of life. They enrich our worlds in untold ways and touch our lives like no other living being can.

According to the CDC, interacting with animals results in health benefits such as:
• Decreased blood pressure.
• Decreased cholesterol levels.
• Decreased triglyceride levels.
• Decreased feelings of loneliness.
• Increased opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities.
• Increased opportunities for socialization.

Additionally, we know that pets help lower stress levels, provide companionship, improve the immune system, offer unconditional acceptance & love, and encourage us to get out of the house!

For those with service animals (I have one myself) the benefits are immeasurable!

With the powerful relationships we develop, we are met with the inevitable cycles of life and death.

Transition support and animal communication are two ways we help you honor the life and commitment you have shared.

Saying goodbye is never easy, and a qualified animal communicator can give you peace of mind while offering energetic support to your beloved animal during the dying process.

This service can be provided remotely over two or three days to support the animal’s journey over the rainbow bridge as well as your own loss process and peace of mind and heart.

Since the 1800s, Reiki has been offered by qualified practitioners to assist in the healing and wellness process. Its purpose is to support the balance of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual energies in the client, resulting in a greater sense of peace and a more powerful environment for healing to take place.

Reiki translates as “mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign.”

Using meditation, symbols and sometimes a light touch, Reiki creates an environment where the client can let go of worry, fear, anger and general dis-ease, while providing stress relief and relaxation.

Reiki connects to the heart and spirit of the client, into each divine and perfect being. In this way, it honors unique processes and allows each individual to incorporate the energy in an organic and effective way.

Because of its meditative nature, Reiki can be shared with any animal to promote relaxation and a strong sense of wellbeing. Through this powerful, yet non-intrusive connection, the human/animal relationship can be strengthened and enriched exponentially.

Reiki energy is wholeness energy. In its purest light form, harmony and balance are both its foundation and results, even in the presence of disease.

Healing must come from within each individual, and this ancient practice opens the gateways for that energy to flow effectively. Similar to acupuncture, Reiki moves stagnant or aggravated energy, improving overall energy flow through the body’s meridians and target areas. This increases the possibilities for deep and lasting healing to occur.

Having said that, animals are deeply affected by their people’s mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellness. They recognize, feel and absorb our pain, anger and joy.

Very often, pets will wish to be present as their people receive a Reiki treatment and will benefit from the session in tandem.

Because of its unique energy-based attributes, a skilled practitioner can perform Reiki remotely.

Single sessions can last between 15 and 60 minutes depending upon the imbalance being addressed and comfort of the client.

Multiple sessions can be necessary based on the goal desired.

We strongly suggest that Reiki be used in conjunction with medical care. This ensures that each client receives the greatest support possible in the healing process.

Conditions for which we have been called upon are as follows:
• Aggression
• Separation Anxiety
• Physical Disorders or Injuries
• Post-Surgery
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Chronic Pain
• Neurodegenerative Disorders
• Death of loved one (animal or human)
• End of life Transition

Animals offer us support, love, gratitude and companionship. Reiki is a simple yet extraordinary way to recognize their immense value and to keep them balanced and stress-free.
