Dear cat owners,

Most declawing veterinarians don't want you to see this post.
Why? Because they make easy and good money barbarically amputating your beloved cat's toe bones and claws like the ones in the photo. (Scalpel declaw)

The facts are that declawing is inhumane, cruel, and ALWAYS causes negative issues for your cat's long term health and well being.
There are credible and recent peer reviewed studies that prove this.

If you really love your cat and want what's best for them, please take the humane path and use the easy, humane alternatives to declawing like sturdy scratching posts, scratching pads, nail trims, deterrents like double sided tape and Feliway, Soft Paws, etc.

Below is the info that declawing vets do NOT want you to read. Also, a study showed that declawing causes chronic stress.
Remember, cats are masters at hiding their pain and suffering so they silently suffer for the rest of their lives from walking on those 10-18 amputation sites.

Here's everything you need to know about declawing. https://citythekitty.org/declawing-facts-vs-myths-humane-options/

If your vet declaws cats, please ask them to honor their veterinary oath and stop. If they won't then it's best you take your pets to ethical and humane vets who put the welfare of ALL animals over profits.
Send us an email if you go to or work at an AAHA Accredited Animal hospital that declaws cats. We will keep your info anonymous. [email protected]

Please go to citythekitty.org and sign all our petitions. No need to donate any money when you sign them since the money goes to change. org.

ADOPTED!!!

There have been no inquiries for Dottie-YET-but we aren't giving up on her!
Will you help us get the word out about her? Dottie needs your help in shares! 🙏

11 year old Dottie is a 45 pound mixed breed-your guess is as good as ours. Check out the cute scruff around her mouth! This really nice dog is unfortunately spending most of her time alone as her owner has passed away. Described as being "loving and a wonderful companion", Dottie is ready to find an adoptive home.

Family is doing their best to care for Dottie but because she has chased and attacked cats (and small animals including chickens), she cannot live with extended family. Dottie has lived with other dogs in the past and we are told she should only live with friendly dogs that are her size and larger. Because she has never been observed around children, we'd suggest a home with kids aged 12 and over.

Dottie appreciates activity. She loves to run. For that reason, Dottie needs a securely fenced yard. Her caretakers have been working with her on her leash skills. We'd guess a no-pull harness could help and more time for walks! Dottie loves to play with her toys and enjoys a human that will interact with her for play. What a fun dog!

Currently, Dottie manages quite a few hours between potty breaks. It would be nice if she didn't have to wait too long to relieve herself-who enjoys that? She is fine to stay alone with issue. Her caretaker reports she only displays anxiety when there's thunder or fireworks, as so many hearing dogs do! Dottie is living in a familiar home which has helped her in adapting to the loss of her person. One should take that into consideration when she moves and show her compassion and time to settle in.

At night Dottie has a choice to sleep in her open kennel, under the bed or on the bed. She does very well inside her home and while she will bark when she sees someone outside her house, she is not much of a barker. She will let you know when she needs to go outside to relieve herself. Dottie can manage stairs at this time.

It sounds as though Dottie is just the right combination of independent and companion dog! She is going to make a great addition to someone's home.

Dottie is located in Bremerton, WA. For contact information please email: [email protected]

This is not an Old Dog Haven dog. Old Dog Haven has not assessed this dog for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.

UPDATES:

Girlfriend has been ADOPTED

Critter has been taken in by rescue

9 year old Girlfriend is a beautiful 55 pound Catahoula located in a very small, very old shelter near the coast of W. Washington state. Often dogs in her area are moved to bigger cities in W. Washington but at this time, shelters and rescuers are full.

Girlfriend and her 6 year old son Critter lived with a man who recently passed away. Their lifestyle was "off the grid". They lived with other animals-a parrot, fish and a rabbit- in a converted bus. There were cats, chickens and goats on the property. Girlfriend met a dog-savvy child at the shelter and appeared to enjoy her attention!

Girlfriend was not put on a leash often with her owner but volunteers state they have leashed her up and since she's not accustomed to walking this way, she will pull. There is help for that! With time and patience, Girlfriend could learn to walk on a leash and live a more comfortable life than she used to. Girlfriend's owner may not have had much but he saw to it that his dogs saw a vet when needed. Aside from some typical fatty lumps the vet declared Girlfriend "healthy".

Critter is not a senior dog. We are told he and his mother Girlfriend are not bonded and do not have to be adopted together but they are being kept together as there are only 3 kennels at the shelter. It would be truly sad if one were left behind. If one is interested in adopting the pair, that would of course be wonderful! More details about Girlfriend and Critter can be provided by the rescue contact.

Girlfriend is posted for Friends of Forks of Forks, WA. For more information please email: [email protected] or phone: 360-374-3332.

This is not an Old Dog Haven dog. Old Dog Haven has not assessed this dog for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
