Girlfriend has an ADOPTION PENDING
Critter has been taken in by rescue
9 year old Girlfriend is a beautiful 55 pound Catahoula located in a very small, very old shelter near the coast of W. Washington state. Often dogs in her area are moved to bigger cities in W. Washington but at this time, shelters and rescuers are full.
Girlfriend and her 6 year old son Critter lived with a man who recently passed away. Their lifestyle was "off the grid". They lived with other animals-a parrot, fish and a rabbit- in a converted bus. There were cats, chickens and goats on the property. Girlfriend met a dog-savvy child at the shelter and appeared to enjoy her attention!
Girlfriend was not put on a leash often with her owner but volunteers state they have leashed her up and since she's not accustomed to walking this way, she will pull. There is help for that! With time and patience, Girlfriend could learn to walk on a leash and live a more comfortable life than she used to. Girlfriend's owner may not have had much but he saw to it that his dogs saw a vet when needed. Aside from some typical fatty lumps the vet declared Girlfriend "healthy".
Critter is not a senior dog. We are told he and his mother Girlfriend are not bonded and do not have to be adopted together but they are being kept together as there are only 3 kennels at the shelter. It would be truly sad if one were left behind. If one is interested in adopting the pair, that would of course be wonderful! More details about Girlfriend and Critter can be provided by the rescue contact.
Girlfriend is posted for Friends of Forks of Forks, WA. For more information please email: [email protected] or phone: 360-374-3332.
This is not an Old Dog Haven dog. Old Dog Haven has not assessed this dog for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
