Due to storm damage, downed power lines, etc in the area, we have decided to close today to keep everyone safe and allow for cleanup in the area. We have power and no structural damage out here, just mostly cleanup from tree limbs down, so we are good. ~Tara

Yay, it came today!! After thinking about buying this for several years I finally spent the $300. No more using my old ancient Android phone with the card swipe plugged in and swiping client’s cards over and over and over again to get it to work🙄 I still prefer cash and check over card but this will help tremendously with those that choose to pay with a card.

This is a good example of “sheet matting.” The coat is matted down to the skin and the clipper blade has to go in between the matting and the skin in order to cut the hair. If the matting is severe enough, it will come off in one piece as you see here. A lot of times the surface of the coat appears fluffy, which will happen if you only use a brush. A brush won’t get down to the skin, which is why we recommend using a metal comb to check your work.

Sheet matting can trap moisture and also will not allow the air to get down to the skin. The mats will also pull at the skin with the dogs natural movement. Both of these issues can cause skin problems.

Regular grooming, as well as proper maintenance in between grooming, can prevent this from happening.

This photo was taken for educational purposes. The owner did not intend for his coat to be this matted. They were unaware and also dealing with the sickness of a family member. He now feels a lot better in this heat and it will all grow back soon❤️ ~Tara

Our new logo came back from the designer tonight and I love it!!! I wanted to incorporate a pet that was near and dear to everyone here for many years and sadly passed a little over a year ago. I loved him like my own and felt that Clancy deserved to be memorialized in our new logo ❤️ ~Tara

I went with Jenn this afternoon for her MRI results. She does have a partial herniation of C6 but it is healing. She will have physical therapy and will continue working at fifty percent of what she normally grooms for the next couple weeks. The good news is that she will continue to heal!! She will also be able to continue on with her grooming career as she was hoping! Thank you, Everyone, for your prayers in her recovery!! ~Tara

Hey Everyone! I had a few clients reach out to me when they saw this screenshot of my calendar because they didn’t see their dog on there. This just shows the first few appointments of the day, not the 9-11 dogs that I’m actually grooming that day. Just relax😊 ~Tara

I spent this morning working on the grooming schedule for the next month (please remember that you can schedule an appointment online at marquispetresort.com). Jenn’s going to be out for awhile with her injured arm, next step is awaiting scheduling for an MRI. She’s still coming in as she’s able to check in and out dogs so I can groom more in a day without as many interruptions. Since we don’t know when she’ll be returning, I am grooming the dogs that she specifically grooms as well. Praying that she’ll be able to return to grooming soon! ~Tara

FYI - I have turned off grooming availability for booking appointments the next two weeks on our website. My other groomer, Jenn, has suffered an injury to her arm and we’re uncertain as to when she will be back and to what capacity when she does return. I will be rescheduling some appointments as well as giving clients the option of me grooming the dogs she specifically does or waiting. I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. ~Tara
