🍫 Holiday Treats Can Be Toxic!
Between Halloween candy leftovers and Thanksgiving desserts, pets can easily sneak something they shouldn’t this time of year.

Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free gum and baked goods), raisins, grapes, and macadamia nuts are all dangerous — even in small amounts.

If your pet gets into sweets or anything questionable:

🦃 No Turkey Bones, Please!
We know those puppy eyes are hard to resist at the Thanksgiving table — but cooked turkey bones can splinter and cause choking, blockages, or serious internal injuries.

If you want to share a treat, try safe options instead:
🥕 Plain cooked veggies (like carrots or green beans)
🍗 Small bits of unseasoned, boneless turkey
🎃 A spoonful of plain pumpkin

Keep the feast safe and happy for your furry family this Thanksgiving!

Hot spots (also called “acute moist dermatitis”) are red, irritated patches that can appear suddenly and spread quickly. They’re usually caused by things like allergies, fleas, moisture trapped under thick coats, or even boredom-related licking and chewing.

🐶 What to Watch For:

Red, moist, or oozing skin

Constant licking or biting one area

A sudden bad odor from the skin

💧 What to Do:

Keep the area clean and dry

Prevent licking or scratching (use a cone or soft collar if needed)

Schedule a visit so we can treat the infection, ease the itching, and address the cause

The good news? With prompt care, hot spots usually heal quickly — and your pet feels better fast.

Antifreeze Alert!
As the weather turns colder, many people start using antifreeze again — but did you know it’s highly toxic to pets?

Even a few drops can be deadly. Antifreeze has a sweet taste that can attract cats and dogs, but it causes rapid and severe kidney damage if ingested.

🧴 Keep bottles sealed and stored high out of reach.
🧹 Clean up any spills immediately.
🐾 If you suspect your pet has licked or walked through antifreeze, seek veterinary care right away.

A quick response can make all the difference.

Many pet owners think they can take a break from flea and tick prevention once the temperatures drop — but those pesky pests don’t disappear that easily!

Fleas can survive indoors through the winter, and ticks can stay active in temps as low as 40°F. That means your pets (and your home) are still at risk for bites and the diseases they carry.

Keep your prevention going year-round to stay protected — and if you’re not sure which product is best for your pet, we’re happy to help you choose the safest option.

🐾 November is Senior Pet Month!
As our pets get older, their needs begin to change — just like ours do. Regular checkups become even more important to help catch things early, like arthritis, dental disease, thyroid issues, or changes in weight and energy.

A wellness visit gives our team a chance to talk through what’s normal aging and what might need attention, plus discuss things like nutrition, supplements, and comfort at home.

If your pet is 7 or older, this is the perfect time to schedule their senior exam and make sure they’re feeling their best for the holidays ahead.
