Description
Often called the most versatile of all working dog breeds, the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog is certainly an active canine. From being able to herd cattle and hunt many species of game-deer, bear, boar, raccoon, and squirrel-to being an excellent candidate for Search and Rescue as well as drug detection, needless to say, the Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog is a protective breed that

is intelligent and adaptable to nearly every situation. Also known as a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog, this dog breed likes to be as active as possible and requires a fair amount of mental stimulation to keep occupied. Often growing to 20 to 26 inches long and 45 to 95 pounds, this moderate breed stays in shape by being put to work in the fields, working cattle, catching wild hogs, hunting wild game or in various law enforcement situations. The Louisiana Catahoula can be a number of different colors, so it can be difficult to identify them just from their coats. Ranging in color from red, blue, yellow, and even tan or white colors, this breed's short coat is easy to maintain and suited perfectly for their active lifestyle....

Love these memories…🐾💗…

I absolutely love getting updates on dogs we raise. We are very proud of the dogs and the owners that work hard with their dogs and honor the dogs instincts. Django by our Lee's Chipper aka Rip is owned by Mitchell Russell. Django and Mitchell graduated his SAR (Search & Rescue) training and began his HDR (Human Remains Detection) training while they lived in New Mexico. He sent me this update last night so wanted to share...

"Hi Sandra, hope your ranch is doing well and ready for fall. I wanted to send you a pupdate! We've recently moved up to northern Colorado (Fort Collins) and Django is having a hell of a time up here! I haven't decided if I want to join the SAR teams yet, but yesterday we were hiking a remote trail and Django came to me and alerted that he had found someone without any prompting. He led me off trail to 2 elderly ladies who were exhausted and very lost. I'm very proud of this boy"...

This is such a great memory and timely...Mitchell messaged me this weekend to update me on Django. They have graduated their SAR (Search & Rescue) training and because Django's nose is so keen they are going to try him for his HRD (Human Remains Detection) Team!! Super proud of Mitchell and Django!! They are doing great things and will be a blessing to many...

Absolutely love getting updates on pups we've raised!! Django is growing into such a handsome dog...Django is Mitchell's first Catahoula. He's working on training him for SAR (Search and Rescue). Prior to Django he had had another hunting/working breed. I asked Mitchell how he was coming in his training? His response..."He's doing magnificently! Easily the smartest, most trainable, most personable dog I've ever worked with. He's learning commands that most dogs can't understand until well past a year. I'll tell you Ms. Sandra, you raise some of the most unbelievably sweet pups. He howls at me for 10 minutes straight when I get home from work".
So tickled to know and hear that our pups are going on to have careers doing things related to what they are bred for or use their inate instincts for and in such loving homes...thank you for the update Mitchell!! Looking forward to the next one...😀...

I can not stress this enough. Especially high drive/hunting/sporting breeds. People……they aren’t born this way. Temperament is bred, but not handle that is EARNED with these breeds.
