My love for dalmatians started when I was a little girl and the movie 101 Dalmatians came out. I watched it so many times and had TONS of stuffed dalmatians. I fantasized about having a real one. When I turned 19 I purchased my first dalmatian, Lizzy. Dalmatians are very hard to find from a reputable breeder, but I finally found one. Everyone told me that dalmatians are aggressive and not very easy to train. Lizzy was crate/potty trained in two weeks. She was the cutest puppy in this entire world and she was all mine! She went everywhere with me even though I had a car with black interior and she shedded SO bad. I did not care. She was my baby!
I have lived on a farm my entire life and I know all about breeding different types of livestock, but at that time I had never bred dogs. I begin to do lots of research and consulted with different breeders. As soon as she turned two years old, I began searching for a male. We finally found one two years later. When those puppies begin getting those famous spots (they are born solid white unless they have a patch) and I could love all over them, I felt like I was in the 101 Dalmatian movie! I was IN LOVE. I told my husband that this is something I want to do for very long time. I wanted to be a reputable breeder and share this wonderful breed with others.
We have now been breeding for 4 years and we plan to continue as long as we are able to. We live on 20 acres of fenced in pastures in Campobello, South Carolina. We are very laid back “country folks” and welcome any potential buyer to our house to meet us and our dogs. All of our dogs free range during the day and stay in our climate controlled garage at night. We do not keep any males on the premises. We always stud out and the male comes to our property for two weeks when it is time to breed. They honeymoon in a pen that they have all to themselves! During the last two weeks of pregnancy (60-63 days gestation) we bring the mother inside our home where she will have them. Puppies are raised in our home until they reach 6 weeks. During those weeks, puppies are exposed to normal household smells and noises (I have two kids so they are very familiar with children!). Then they are moved to a bigger playpen in our climate controlled garage where they spend the next two weeks until they go to their forever homes. They also begin playing outside, completely supervised, at this age. Our puppies are like our children.
***Our females
Our females are not bred until they reach two years of age. They are bred once a year for 3-4 years. We do NOT breed a female more than four times in her life. We want the absolute best life for our dogs and that is also the reason why we NEVER adopt out our “retired” females. They stay with us forever. We have considered guardian families, but we just aren't quite to that point yet.
***Our process- We have changed our process beginning with our 2021 litter.
We are starting waiting lists for our 2021 Litter. We are only taking 9-10 deposits until they are born and we know how many we have. The deposit is $100 and is non-refundable. After the deposit list fills up I will start taking names on a waiting list incase those 9-10 individuals end up backing out and if we have more puppies (we always do). The $100 will go towards the price of the puppy. If you are do not make a certain litter, then you will be moved to the next litter. Rainey is our next female that we will start breeding when she turns 2 years old (fall 2021)
**I highly suggest going ahead and getting on the waiting list if you are interested in one of our puppies**
***Please note: Breeder or stud owner may have first pick of ANY litter upon breeders discretion.
Puppies are picked out 5-6 weeks old. This is when their spots all fully in and personalities begin to develop. I HIGHLY recommend you pick out your puppy in person if travel allows you to. However, if you cannot come in person I will send pictures, videos or even FaceTime to help you make your selection. Once you become a buyer, you are my family. I will always answer any questions you may have.
***Pricing
Deposits are $300 once the puppies are born, which goes toward the total of $950. Each puppy is dewormed at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, and 8 weeks. They are treated with Revolution at 6 weeks and also receive their first round of puppy vaccinations. Puppies come with CKC papers for the new owner to register them and BAER test results. The buyer will NOT receive the CKC registration papers until spay/neuter proof is sent to the seller. I have the sire and dams registration info if any buyer requests. Each puppy will have a brand new colored collar and a litter scented blanket for them take home. The BAER testing is done at 8 weeks of age at UGA (University of Georgia) and once that test is completed the puppies are able to go to their new homes! ( All of this information will come in your puppy folder.)
Note: Puppies are picked out in order I receive deposits. Therefore, I cannot guarantee the gender you request. However, you may skip a litter and stay on the list to receive the gender you have requested.
Note: Each buyer signs a spay/neuter contract with the breeder. I do NOT give any breeding rights unless previously discussed.
If a puppy ends up having unilateral hearing or completely deaf, the buyer still has the option to purchase the puppy at a discounted price. If the buyer doesn't want the puppy then the money will be refunded to the buyer and they will get first pick (or second pick if breeder or stud owner is picking that litter) on the next litter.
***Feeding
All of my dogs are fed 4 Health. It is ONLY sold at Tractor Supply. I feed the light blue puppy to our puppies and my adults eat the Lamb and Rice. (It actually has a Dalmatian on the front!) Dalmatians require a diet with low protein because they are prone to urinary stones. The Lamb and Rice has 21% protein. I give all of my dogs natural bones once a week. It helps to keep their teeth clean and any anxiety at bay. I go to a local BBQ place and buy some to freeze so that I always have some on hand. They are excellent for puppies that are teething!
