We are located in Southern Colorado. We love our Cockapoos and they share our home and our lives. Our dogs do not live the Kennel Life. Rather experiencing life with us and each other. l have had their health screenings prior to honeymooning. We use Embark, OFA or Pennhip. OFA/Pennhip screens for hip & Elbow Dysplasia as well as patella. The links to this information can be found on our website on each parents profile. Additionally, Our parents come from AKC traceable bloodlines and our registered with their parent club the American Cockapoo Club. We use English cocker spaniel and Miniature or Moyen * small standard* Poodles for our First Generation cockapoos. Most of higher generation are a lovely mix or American and English Cocker ( as well as poodle). Our cockapoos as adults are either Standard size 15 in at the shoulder or miniatures 11-15in at the shoulder. We have first generation and multi generational cockapoos. We are color-blind here at H & H Red Canon Canines and breed first for structure, then for sound health and temperament, and lastly color. Believing every canine is as valuable as the next. Our veterinarian does not differentiate based on color or coat-type and neither do we. All breeds have what is referred to as a sub-type. The Cockapoo is no different. in AKC breeds this is often times referred to as bench vrs field . Each sub-type having different qualities in coat and structure as well as drive and activity level. Within the Cockapoo the sub-type is referred to as a smoothie. These pups will have more of the spaniel qualities in coat and often times structure as well. We find that those not concerned with allergies often times prefer these as they have just enough poodle in them to do the trick! Without the hassle of high-maintenance curly or wavy coats. We find at least one or two of these smoothies in most of our New Arrivals. Whether smooth coated, curly coated, or wavy coated is preferred the colorful cockapoo all have some things in common. Their merry-tails, wiggle-butts ,fabulous temperaments with an Amazing OFF button. Our goal is to bring healthy Cockapoos with amazing temperaments to others. There is a reason the the Cockapoo is the oldest ( and most popular) mix breed ( since the 1950s) in the United States. They are soft-mouthed, soft hearted, funny, smart, intuitive, versatile, with a desire to please that makes them easy to train and become a well-mannered family member. What they are not is just a flash in the pan or a fad. whether a recognized AKC Breed or not Cockapoos are here to stay. Their high biddability and versatility means they are well suited for a variety of jobs. Whether, they have a future as a Therapy prospect, Service prospect, Emotional Support Animal OR the office mascot , store door greeter, OR your Hiking, Camping,& RV ,side car , shot gun seat riding ,movie night lap warmer. Make no mistake the cockapoo is a family member that is happiest and does best at your side doing whatever you are doing! Here at H & H Red Cañon Canines we use the Puppy Culture Puppy Enrichment and Socialization Program that focuses in on behavioral growth markers not only age. We begin to set the foundation with them at 3days old by using Early Neurological Stimulation and Early scent introduction. By 3weeks we have begun introducing training to artificial turf , introducing wet paws and began sound desensitization ( common stressors such as Fireworks, Thunderstorms, airplanes, childhood tantrums, farm animals, and bands tuning etc) Most of our Moms were also puppy Culture pups we raised in our dining room so this is all part of the routine. sometimes I think Mons are doing more of this training thaN we do! around 5 weeks We gradually introduce the grooming room experience , more brain teasers and give different types of tactile experiences in along the way. Creating a diverse experience for them means things are new and are ths foundation is built in steps. A great way to learn about life for our pups. Later we introduce then to water play as the weather allows and car rides. Finally as the growth markers indicate we introduce eating meals and taking naps in a crate, & loose leash training at 7 weeks. Manner training is on-going and consistent until they leave us at 10-weeks . We encorrage our families to learn more about the pet owner aspect of Puppy Culture and to continue building upon the firm foundation we have laid through obedience classes. In these times many opt for independent training programs. For this We recommend Baxter & Bella. We also use some Avid protocols also. Believing the more experiences our pups have before they join their new families the more they are likely to have a successful life. We believe that the proof is in the puppies and that the Puppy Culture program give our pups the advantage of being highly resilient in order to adapt to many of the lifstressors and transitions they may encounter throughout their life. Whenever possible we strive to use natural methods ( diet , grooming products) for ourselves and our beloved 4-legged family members whenever possible
