Did you know that Goats can eat Thorns? 🌿🐐 Yasss, goats eat thorns! These adorable animals have an incredibly strong digestive system that allows them to eat foods that would be toxic or harmful to other animals. 💪 Their stomach is divided into four chambers, making their digestion super-efficient. This ability allows them to eat a wide variety of plants, including herbs, grasses, shrubs, and even thorns! 🌵 At HAAS, we grow a ton of herbs 🪴 and forage on the farm specifically for our rescue goats. Thorns don't hurt goats because their lips and tongue 👅 are covered with a thick layer of skin that protects them from getting pricked and cut. Amazing, right? 🌟 🐾 Goats are a reminder of how fascinating and unique nature is. A message from Tracy, our wonderful farm guest: Hidden Acres Animal Sanctuary is the most magical, loving place. Everyone we encountered was exceptionally kind and helpful, especially the host, Sarah. She is very caring and compassionate. She made sure that we we had our privacy but knew that she was on the property and was there if we needed anything. We stayed at the Goat Inn, and it is very comfortable, clean, and adorably decorated. Everything you need is inside.  Now for the animals…..they are VERY well fed, cared for, and seem to relish in the attention. They are so eager to get affection as well as treats. It is as if they understand they have been rescued and appreciate that they are now safe, loved, and will be cared for the rest of their lives. I have always loved animals, but Hidden Acres was such a peaceful, grounding, and fun experience that I will always treasure.  The day before we left, we pretty much had the place to ourselves except for a volunteer who came at animal feeding times. That afternoon, I sat in the hay snuggling Bessie the cow and feeling her warm, healing love. I cried with gratitude for such a beautiful experience and the peace I felt deeply. I heard my boyfriend approaching and as I wiped away my tears and opened my eyes, he was kneeling before me and asked me to marry him!!!  I said absolutely!!! Fortunately, right before this, he was able to recruit one of the volunteers to video the whole proposal. It is quite a funny, slightly embarrassing video as I had recently had a knee replacement and got stuck in the hay!! It was the perfect finish to the most incredibly fun weekend!  I encourage everyone who loves animals to have a stay at Hidden Acres Farm Sanctuary.
