Hello! Coming with an update! Home grooming and dog walking! I know it’s a long read, please bare with me!

I have been doing some house call grooming for a few clients. I’ve been very selective, and it’s been going well so far! I’m missing grooming a lot, and would like to expand my house call clients!

This last year has been a crazy rollercoaster. I’ve stepped away from grooming without ever really stepping away. Burn out was calling my name aggressively this year. I‘m a dog groomer, a professional, but I’m also just a person. A mom to two young kids. Ultimately, they come before anything to me. And in order to be the mom they needed, I needed a break.

I was worried about house calls at first. I was worried it would be weird going to people’s homes. I was worried the dogs would be wild or more defensive. But all of my doubts have been put to bed. A couple of my most anxious dogs I did in a shop were 10x better at home. A German Shepherd client of mine who would whine and bark the entire time, and had to be separated from other dogs, just chilled and hung out. The process was no stress, because we were in his home environment. It was awesome, and I think a lot of dogs could benefit from this type of grooming experience.

If anyone would be interested in house call grooming, please feel free to reach out. However, I won’t be taking on every client. I’m being extremely selective, as I’m coming back from burn out, I don’t want to burn out again. I’m lacking combs, so right now my capabilities are summer cuts or just a trim.

As far as HOW I’m being selective, I don’t want to do any dogs that have been fired from previous groomers for aggression. I don’t want to do larger dogs, my table isn’t industrial sized, so medium and smaller are preferred. If you have a 6 month to 1 year old puppy who has never been groomed or acclimated to grooming, then I am not the groomer for you. If you have any questions or a special circumstances, please message me and ask!

I ask for patience, as I’m a mom to two young kids, and I’m not always on my phone. I will get back to any messages during my working hours.

Last but not least, I’m going to be offering dog walking services to the Scott county/Cape girardeau area. I can walk your pups around your neighborhood, or take them to a trail for some more intense exercise! Prices depend on your dog/walk time. Please message me if you’d like to know more! I’m being MUCH less selective with dog walking than I am dog grooming!

Hello everyone! Update coming!

I’m slowly setting up to do house calls. This won’t be mobile grooming with a van, this will be in your home. This is a luxury service that isn’t widely offered in this area yet. After some research, I’ve seen that in larger metro areas, this is a preferred method for many. I’ll link an article below, but from what I’ve seen, it’s a lower stress approach to grooming. Grooming the dogs in a familiar, comfortable place, vs taking them to a salon with a bunch of strange dogs, smells, and potential illnesses.

I’m brainstorming and trying to come up with a way to make this work for larger dogs. Smaller dogs are a no brainer, but larger dogs are where I’m having a problem. I may have found a solution, so bear with me while I accumulate everything I need!

Before I do though, my question is, how comfortable would you be with a house call groomer? I would use your tub or sink, and would ask that you provide shampoo and towels. I would bring everything else I needed. If you needed shampoo recommendations, I can start a separate post with links to what I recommend for different coat types/health issues.

If I see a demand for the service, I will rise to the occasion and meet it! I ask that you bare with me as I purchase equipment! Thank you to all of my clients that have stuck by me, you guys make it worth it!

I hate to disappoint, but at this time, I’m no longer grooming in a shop environment. I hope that one day, I will be able to achieve that. Right now, it’s just not doable for me.

I’m working on getting set up to make house calls, but for the time being, I am officially taking a break.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to take a moment to share a cute picture of Cheza! While we were sitting here, I started wondering if her spots would grow back the same if I shaved her. Silly, I know, because you should never shave a double coated dog!

A double coated dog is a dog that has two coats that grow independently of each other. A longer guard hair, which grows slowly, and a shorter, fluffy undercoat, that grows much quicker. Breeds like Husky’s, German Shepherd’s, and labs fall in this category.

A lot of people don’t know that shaving a double coated dog can do more harm than good! Not only NOT helping with shedding, NOT keeping your dog cooler, but potentially damaging the coat irreversibly!

So how can you keep your double coated pups cool in the warmer months? I recommend a groom of course! Blowing out the thick undercoat will allow the dog’s top coat to do it’s job to help regulate their temperature. Their anatomy is actually amazing! I just help speed up their natural process, helping cut down on hair in your home, and the temp of your pup!

She has been chosen as Key Hairstylist for an upcoming feature film that will be filming in our very own, Cape Girardeau! This was a tough decision but a ONCE in a life time opportunity and DREAM come true! She will be rearranging any guests who have appointments scheduled from August 16th - September 30th. All of us at Eden are SO incredibly PROUD of her and this career accomplishment and rare opportunity. Chewy’s transformation!!

This is my first time ever doing a Pom like this, I love the turnout! Poms have always been so intimidating for me, it was the first dog I ever groomed, and they hated it. Which in turn made me terrified to do them.

But Chewy’s mom loved his cut today, which really lifted my spirits! Thank you for trusting me with your sweet little guy! I hope I see him again soon 💙

Brushing your doodle can be a CHORE! 😪

But it doesn’t have to be! Did you know I can brush your dog in between appointments for you? Life gets busy; and though I recommend brushing at least every other day; I understand that sometimes, thats not always doable.

$15 for 15 minutes of full body brushing out! Another $10, and I can take care of their nails too! No appointment necessary, just shoot me a text or message to make sure I’m there!

Hello everyone!!

I just want to take a moment to say thank you to all my clients. This transition from employee to independent contractor has been CRAZY!! But all of you have been so understanding and flexible. I am so thankful! You guys literally pay my bills and feed my kids, so from all of us, thank you!!

Hi guys, I want to introduce you to my best friend! This is Cheza, according to her DNA test, she’s a pit bull/border collie/Great Dane mix 🤣

She’s 8 years old, and I’ve had her since she was a wee babe. I found her roaming the streets, and picked her up. She unfortunately was diagnosed with parvo, but as you can see, she’s thriving 8 years later! She’s been through it all; college, break ups, marriage, two kids, divorce, everything! She’s such a good girl!

I’m posting her cuteness today to remind you guys to keep your furry friends safe over this holiday weekend! Of all of them, this just so happens to be Cheza’s least favorite holiday, as I’m sure it is many of your fur babies. I’ve attached a link with some tips on how you can keep your pets safe this fireworks season.
