The vet that killed Baby did the exact same thing to another woman and her chicken. He tried to get her to pay for expensive tests even though she provided the results of the tests. He told her he was the only board certified avian vet this side of San Francisco and he gave her bird too much anesthesia and killed it. The only difference is he admitted fault with her.

I'm still having trouble finding a lawyer. No one wants to take the case because it's not enough money.

Two things:

I wish I could find a lawyer who cares more about doing the right thing and wants to help people who need it. Why be so greedy that the only way they will help someone is to make a ton of money from their misery? Making this doctor pay will help many many people and Baby's death will not have been in vain.

Second, I found a different approach. I'm going to see if I can go after him for unfair business practices and go for the full amount lost as well as pain and suffering. Maybe a lawyer will then take this case. We'll see. Searching again. There aren't that many lawyers who handle unfair business practices. I will not give up though. It's unfortunate that the veterinary medical board process takes so long. I'm still waiting for their results.

**Update on Baby's case**

The doctors insurance company rejected my allegations. I contacted the corporate office and asked to speak to a supervisor. I sent her the information. I also contacted a veterinarian who was able to tell me about Baby's test results and what she would have done in my situation. She said she would have done things differently. She would have retested Baby's HCT at the very least. She would have hydrated her and made sure her breathing was able to handle anesthesia because of the HCT levels there may have been a question if she could handle the anesthesia.

I sent these emails to the insurance supervisor. She sent me an email this morning saying she reached out to the doctor to see if he would reimburse me for the blood tests and surgery and asked me for a breakdown of the amount in my demand letter.

I don't want to get my hopes up but it does look like they may settle with me. Having the doctor's reimbursement would be money out of his pocket and admitting some sort of culpability, which is what I really wanted. The insurance would be for "replacing my property" and some of my losses. The insurance supervisor said that no amount could replace Baby but she wanted to understand my losses.

I was really impressed with Brian and Marc, the breeders in Arizona. They treat their birds with such love and kindness. They send video updates on the birds you're looking at or the bird you picked out. I've heard from a lot of people who have either gotten birds from them or know someone who has gotten birds from them. I have only heard really positive and wonderful things about them. I decided on the boy, #314 he was really shy and would just kind of lay there. Friday he was really quiet and shy then Saturday when I met him he came out of his shell. Here he is. Does anyone know another word for Baby that would be a good name? It could be in another language.

I drove to Arizona to meet some maroon bellied conures. I'm hoping if I get another bird like Baby, It'll help fill the Baby shaped hole in my heart. Wish me luck that the right bird is there.

I finally found some baby maroon bellied conures that will be ready to go to new homes. I'm on the list but I don't know how it will be having another bird that looks just like Baby did.
