I'm still having trouble finding a lawyer. No one wants to take the case because it's not enough money.

Two things:

I wish I could find a lawyer who cares more about doing the right thing and wants to help people who need it. Why be so greedy that the only way they will help someone is to make a ton of money from their misery? Making this doctor pay will help many many people and Baby's death will not have been in vain.

Second, I found a different approach. I'm going to see if I can go after him for unfair business practices and go for the full amount lost as well as pain and suffering. Maybe a lawyer will then take this case. We'll see. Searching again. There aren't that many lawyers who handle unfair business practices. I will not give up though. It's unfortunate that the veterinary medical board process takes so long. I'm still waiting for their results.

**Update on Baby's case**

The doctors insurance company rejected my allegations. I contacted the corporate office and asked to speak to a supervisor. I sent her the information. I also contacted a veterinarian who was able to tell me about Baby's test results and what she would have done in my situation. She said she would have done things differently. She would have retested Baby's HCT at the very least. She would have hydrated her and made sure her breathing was able to handle anesthesia because of the HCT levels there may have been a question if she could handle the anesthesia.

I sent these emails to the insurance supervisor. She sent me an email this morning saying she reached out to the doctor to see if he would reimburse me for the blood tests and surgery and asked me for a breakdown of the amount in my demand letter.

I don't want to get my hopes up but it does look like they may settle with me. Having the doctor's reimbursement would be money out of his pocket and admitting some sort of culpability, which is what I really wanted. The insurance would be for "replacing my property" and some of my losses. The insurance supervisor said that no amount could replace Baby but she wanted to understand my losses.

I was really impressed with Brian and Marc, the breeders in Arizona. They treat their birds with such love and kindness. They send video updates on the birds you're looking at or the bird you picked out. I've heard from a lot of people who have either gotten birds from them or know someone who has gotten birds from them. I have only heard really positive and wonderful things about them. I decided on the boy, #314 he was really shy and would just kind of lay there. Friday he was really quiet and shy then Saturday when I met him he came out of his shell. Here he is. Does anyone know another word for Baby that would be a good name? It could be in another language.

I drove to Arizona to meet some maroon bellied conures. I'm hoping if I get another bird like Baby, It'll help fill the Baby shaped hole in my heart. Wish me luck that the right bird is there.

I finally found some baby maroon bellied conures that will be ready to go to new homes. I'm on the list but I don't know how it will be having another bird that looks just like Baby did.

I'm still searching for a lawyer to take this case. If I don't find one soon it'll have to be small claims court and that sucks because Baby was way more important and significant than that.

I wanted to share something. As a lot of you know, I've unsuccessfully been searching for someone, anyone to help me with Baby's case. I've called the American bar association, lawyer referral services, I've email every lawyer that says animal law and even sent emails to lawyers I found news articles on regarding animal cases won. I hadn't been able to find anyone willing to help me. Then, a friend of mine sent me an article about a lawyer who included animal law in her practice in Florida. I contacted her asking if she knows anyone in California that would help me. She said she didn't but then gave me a link for someone who would help me. It's a non profit dedicated to help people who believe they been victims of veterinary malpractice.

Hi everyone. I know it's been a while but I wanted to update you on what's happening.

I filed a complaint against the veterinarian who killed Baby and they expedited it to investigations. So the vet is being investigated by the veterinarian medical board for malpractice. I want to file a lawsuit against him but can't find a lawyer who will take the case. Unfortunately, animals are considered property at this point and I can't find a lawyer who will do a wrongful death case for an animal. If any of you know a lawyer who would take my case please let me know.

I randomly met someone yesterday who worked at the San Diego zoo in the avian section and knows the vet who killed Baby and absolutely hates him.

I am in close contact with the medical board analyst.. we email each other every week. She cares about my case and working hard on it. We are just waiting for the board vet to investigate the records.

It's been almost 5 months since Baby was taken from me and my heart is still broken. I miss her every day. I loved her so much and hate that I have to live my life without her. I bought other birds, took them back. Bought more, took them back. Gave away 3 of my other birds. I finally found one I kept. He is not Baby and never will be but he makes life a little less sad.

So true. I miss her so much and feel the intense grief each time I remember she's gone.
