PUPPIES ARE HERE🥰 Mama and babies are all thriving. It’s always a bit of a gamble how a dog will take to motherhood (I’ve heard terrible stories!) but Button is an absolute natural and is the most doting, affectionate, loving mama. She had 5 girls and 1 boy. The pups are ranging in size from a little over 9 oz to a couple that are over one pound! We are so thankful that everything has gone very smoothly- we were definitely expecting a middle of the night birth (animals tend to want to birth during the quietest times) but not Button, she wanted to make sure the whole family was there loving and encouraging her on! Multiple times she had her head in a kiddo’s lap while they stoked her head and she tried to relax through contractions. It really was an awesome experience for everyone!
We haven’t officially posted any ads yet but will do so tonight. We currently have one deposit. Order of picks will follow order of deposit. Here’s some additional info~
Our English Cream Golden Retriever, Button, and Standard Poodle, Thor, had their first litter of pups on September 15th (5 girls, 1 boy). Both parents are AKC registered, health tested, and absolutely spoiled.
Button is almost 3 years old, 75 pounds, and we lovingly refer to her as our family polar bear due to her cuddling, big paws, and gentle giant spirit. She has been great with our kiddos- from newborns (always wanting to be near and whining when they were upset) to clumsy toddlers that fall all over her and dress her in hats and sunglasses, to kiddos who want to play fetch and chase. She’s smart and learns commands quickly and lives to love and protect her family.
Thor is 4 years old, 55 pounds, and incredibly loyal and protective. He often comes over just to lay his head or a paw on us, especially if someone is upset or hurt. He’s very intelligent and has been well behaved since puppyhood (no teenage phase for him- ha!). We have chickens that he likes to help coral at night and he is fantastic with our kiddos (he often gets called to accompany them if the lights are off and they want to feel safe walking to dark rooms) and is always up for playing (or cuddling).
The cross between the English cream golden retriever and poodle is usually referred to as a ‘teddybear doodle’ or more generically the ‘golden doodle’, this is because the English cream variety of golden retrievers vary slightly from the traditional American goldens. They tend to have blockier heads, be slightly smaller than American goldens (not so much in Button’s case as she is a beautiful 75 pounds!), have cream or white hair, have a slightly more laid back temperament, and a slightly longer lifespan than their American counterparts. Once we owned an English cream (we started with Button’s mama, Nala), we were absolutely HOOKED. This cross combines two wonderful breeds, with amazing temperaments, awesome intelligence, little to no shedding, and the cutest teddybear appearance!
Our family has raised two litters in the last 5 years, as we’re very conscientious of putting little stress on our beloved pups. Nala is Button’s mom and she had one litter of English Creams and one litter of Teddy doodles. We adored the experience and have been so grateful to see so many of the pups go on to become service dogs (like Nala!), working animals, and super loved family members. Button will be 3 on October 30th, so this puts her at an ideal and healthy age to have a litter. We are not big breeders (my husband and I are teachers with me staying home with our little ones right now), so will wait to see how this litter goes before determining whether we will encourage puppies a second time or not.
Puppies will be ready to go home around the week of November 7th. We’re very big on keeping the puppies with mama until 8 weeks as that helps them to develop the healthiest social skills, robust immune system, and sets them up for the most success.
I would love to answer any questions and invite you to come meet our family to determine whether a teddy doodle might be a good fit for your needs and family. Finding the best homes is our number one priority as saying goodbye is definitely made easier when we know the love they’re walking into! Pups will come vet checked, up to date on everything, lovey and blanket, and a health contract (guarantees puppy’s health).
