Hey all! For those who are new to this page or visiting for the first time, my name is Chris Niels. I am passionate about proper horsemanship and enjoy developing relationships with owners and putting their mind at ease with the knowledge I can share and service I provide. I am currently accepting new clients but more than likely won't be for long as my schedule is nearing full. I serve the entire North Central and North West GA region. How can I help you?

Why does your farrier require you to stay on a schedule if you stay with him? Is he just wanting more money? Is he just taking advantage of you? Absolutely not. It’s all about keeping the horse’s foot as consistent as possible. Too many people think “oh, they don’t look bad so they don’t need done.” When in reality, if they do look good inbetween cycles, and they still look good when they are due next…that’s a compliment to the job the farrier has done.

For every 1 centimeter of extra toe, it’s an added 50 kilograms of force on the tendons. If you do the conversion, that’s 110lbs of extra tension!!!!! Think about the pain a horse has with toes that are 4-5” long. Or, on a horse that’s only done once or twice a year. So, when a farrier requires or asks that their clients stay on a schedule, it’s for the benefit of the horse. It’s our job as farriers to do what we can to keep our client horses both sound and comfortable.

I started this hoof care journey 3 years ago this month. Along the way, I've had the opportunity to work alongside some of the best farriers in the trade as well as develop and hone skill on my own, developing and building clientele. I've had the opportunity to work on horses in five different states in many different environmental and geographical settings. I've worked in some of the nicest barns with the most expensive horses you can imagine as well as places that didn't even have a barn or anything resembling a flat surface to work on.

There have been highs and lows and if I'm honest, days where I wanted to quit and never look back. Ultimately, nothing compares to the accomplishment of a day with numerous horses and stops and having served both owners and horses along the way. I am grateful for all current and past clients and have learned something from every hoof, every horse, every client and every stop. Marking this now fourth year of business, I look ahead to continuous opportunities to learn, new clients, new horses, new challenges, and new and better ways to serve all that I come in contact with. Thank you.

More than likely my last sunset in TX for now. Had some amazing experiences here and had the privilege of working with some of the absolute best western horseshoers in the country. Excited to take what I've learned here and apply it to my business and every horse I get under here from here on out. Much gratitude to friends, farriers and clients past and present who have my back and have helped support this journey and business. The road goes on forever. Adios Tejas.

Well, friends. It's been a good run in TX but being closer to family, particularly my kids who are starting football and active in rodeo, trumps extending my time and staying here. I've learned a lot, done a lot and seen a lot and am grateful for that. I'll be relocating back to North GA in the next week or two.

If you'd like to get on schedule, feel free to reach out and I'll more than likely be happy to oblige.

Thanks and happy summer!

Chris
