Talent Alert
Looking for Helper Dogs!
Our final beginner class is coming up, and I have FOUR height dogs graduating! I’d love to have some experienced Flyball dogs stop by to help out. If you’re available Thursday March 27 from 6:30-7:45, please let me know!
This is also a great chance to meet some enthusiastic new handlers who are eager to learn more about our region’s clubs. I’m pretty sure they’ve caught the Flyball bug already!
Let me know if you can bring a helper dog—your support would be greatly appreciated!
My partner and I were watching an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine before bed.
Me: Laughs hysterically at Gina’s new job description.
Partner: Looks at me not laughing.
Me: Why did you not find that funny?!
Partner: Because that’s essentially what YOU do for a living.
Me: Reflects and laughs twice as much.
FULL - thanks everyone!!
NEW - Monday pop-up Beginner Fitness Class series. If there is interest I will add another class series on these dates. I know the April Beginner filled instantly and I have a few on the waitlist and several that couldn't do that particular day.
Interested? Comment below or reach out to me
I wanted to share one of the biggest reasons I LOVE training and playing Flyball. Feeling all of the emotions. Sure it is just a sport we play, but the emotion and heart we invest into this game is nothing less than intense. I wanted to share a happy story - last weekend I got to run my baby dog Huzzah (she’s a 2 year old BW mixy thing).
You know those nervous emotions where you hope their immature brain doesn’t short circuit.
Overcoming the fear of trying something new and untested (housemates in a lineup yikes!)
Overwhelmed with joy at how fantastic your dog did in their attempts to be the best athletic version of themselves.
Immense pride in your training showcasing itself. Even more so when it felt like the longest road.
Gratitude for your team in their constant support and in your region for all the people that stepped in to help train your dog.
And the always fun emotion that wraps up this kind of weekend. Eagerness. The eagerness to keep at it, keep up the fitness and keep training the next generation so you can sit in all of these emotions once again.
So I’m with you all; sitting back, taking a deep breath and feeling all the emotions. And giving you a high five and a big hug when you get to the top of that roller coaster high of emotions. We all work so hard - here is a reminder you are doing amazing!!
Featured Film - Ask and you shall receive - don’t throw up watching this live action film from my 8 year old 😳 Honestly, if you wanted to keep all the mystery about your dog’s training and Flyball progress… just teaser glimpses here and there… he’s your videographer.
Help Wanted
The new temporary location for Precision Flyball Training is being setup next week!! I need any and all help - lifting/unrolling mats or taping them will be the big ones. I was going to start unloading what I can Monday and aim to be done by Wednesday lunch for classes starting Wednesday night. Let me know if you can help! Video of the “help” that isn’t very helpful 😂
After meeting PF followers in person, I was overjoyed that you all love seeing the training aspects in the videos I share. So this video will be less short and flashy and longer/informative. Let me know if you have a jump skipper and this gives you any ideas!!
Flitwick is an adult dog that had ever piece of Flyball except jump commitment. He would skip jumps going to the box, and most often skip them coming back over jump 5 after his turn. For two months before his B&T his owner worked on my jump commitment series. With the cue and understanding of taking a jump, I could make a consistent plan.
Flitwick gets a “Ready, Jump” to go into the jumps. After landing from the box he gets a “Jump” reminder and a clicker “click” landing after jump 5 with a “Yes” and lowering of hand to know he needs to come get his good boy meatball. We also drilled jumping every jump down and back each time we loaded the ball - he was taking jumps in his sleep I’m certain. Consistency is SO crucial for connecting these dots.
We proofed releasing from way off center and rewarding off to the side. His owner said he’s made so much progress and has almost perfect sessions. I can’t wait to cheer for him in the lanes!!
