It felt like it was time for an update on these hambones!! So Miss kitty had a bit of a scare a couple of months ago and after a visit to the ER was started on 2 medications for her enlarged heart. She improved drastically once we started the meds and had her echocardiogram a couple of weeks ago. She’s been diagnosed with chronic valvular heart disease and pulmonary hypertension. The cardiologist added 2 additional meds to help her stay comfortable and to support her heart as we go along. Prognosis for these conditions is about a year, give or take. She’s doing great and will be starting her prescription cardiac diet when it arrives in the mail! Yum yum! Renzo is following in miss kitty’s footsteps unfortunately and had been coughing a bit. After re-check chest x-rays at his regular vet (we already knew his heart is large as well) he has been started on 2 heart meds to hold us over until he has HIS echocardiogram in November! Fingers crossed he can be kept comfortable on meds and a new diet too. I love these little buggers!!! 😍😍

Hey guys! So I little update on Tinks and Miss Kitty Winkleton…..yes those are their full names 🤣 AKA Renzo and Miss Kitty

So they both have pretty gnarly heart murmurs. I’ve been on “high alert” since we got them looking out for any signs of heart failure. Well it happened 😳 Miss Kitty started to show some signs of slowing down a couple of days ago, just not quite herself, not following me around quite as fervently as usual. I made an appointment with her primary care vet for a couple of days later but within 24 hours I noticed an increase in her respiratory rate and a teeny bit of effort. I opted to take her right in for an emergency visit at VCA Weymouth. She had chest x-rays and was discovered NOT to be in failure quite yet BUT her heart is very large. She’s on 2 cardiac medications to help her heart be more efficient and to keep her happy until we see a cardiologist for an echocardiogram in August (earliest appointment 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️).

She’s home now and doing really well ❤️❤️ this picture was taken right after I got her back home last night. She was very happy to be home and Renzo (Mr Winkleton) was happy to have her back. Positive vibes for our girl please!!!

It is absolutely amazing how far these two have come since December! They used to be terrified to be out in the yard....would just shake and try to Velcro themselves to my leg 😣 now they hang out, sniff, wander without me right next to them, and follow me around when I do farm chores!! Things are looking up for these two oldies ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Miss kitty sure does love her food and snacks!! She’s been on a diet since she arrived and she’s looking much healthier ❤️❤️ Here she is waiting very “patiently “ at the microwave for her food to be warmed 😉 - meggie hangs around to lick the spoon 🤣🤣

Renzo and Miss Kitty had their first vet check-ups since leaving Alabama! They were fantastic patients and all of the staff at the office fell in love with both of them 🥰 They are both pretty “healthy” with the exception of cataracts, heart murmurs, and a lot of missing teeth 🤷🏼‍♀️ could be worse for sure!! For now they are just enjoying the good life, learning to relax, and starting to show their personalities ❤️💙 (a couple of pictures from their car ride- they aren’t excited to go in the car, I’m guessing they haven’t had much experience with it. Miss kitty climbed into my lap about half way through the ride 😂)
