Treating feline cancer early can make all the difference, however, it can be hard to catch it. Cats often hide illness/pain well and it can be difficult to discern differences in their behavior. Here are five things to watch for that might be an early sign of cancer:
1. Unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite can be a sign of illness or disease.
2. Vomiting, especially if chronic, can be a sign of GI-related cancer. This is especially true if the pet also has frequent bouts of diarrhea.
3. Lethary and/or shortness of breath can point to trouble within the lungs or other pulmonary systems.
4. Sores that won't heal can be a sign that your pet's immune system is bogged down and unable to heal simple wounds.
5. Difficulty urinating or defecating can be a signal that your animal has growth in the bladder, intestinal tract, or around the re**um.
Note: this is not an exhaustive list. If you have any concerns about your cat, please bring them in for a wellness check.
