We can't keep everyone in suspense any longer ... despite not having Rocky's professional photo shoot completed! As in life, things happen. Mayoli, who ran point for us on Rocky and Molly's rescue, had two sudden, back to back great losses in her personal pack. Her cat Phantom and her husky Blanca. 💔💔 It wasn't a joyous time to celebrate with a photoshoot, and that may still happen, but for now ...
Mayoli's boyfriend David had decided a month ago to formally adopt Rocky. It's such a huge blessing for Rocky to have the same soft landing that Molly did!
Rocky was 40 pounds overweight when surrendered to us, and we were unable to put him under for his dental. Rocky had a non anesthetic dental last month with our friends at @smilespecialist, and I'm happy to report he had no extractions.
Rocky has lost 20 pounds now, and he gets excited to go for his daily walks. The entire neighborhood is enamored and comes out to cheer him on from what I'm told! He has a trainer, has been approved for dog classes, and is no longer reactive the way he was when he was protecting Molly! He's learning to be a dog again, and David has been exemplary in making sure all of Rocky's needs are met.
We couldn't be happier for Rocky! Thank you, David and Mayoli! ❤️❤️

BASIL BARON PUPDATE
Basil is still sick. With what? We don't know, but we rule things out test by test. Currently, awaiting throat culture results from Antech Laboratories. Baytril and Prednisone added last Thursday, and Albuterol treatments continue. Heart diagnosed (weeks back) as a stage two murmur and responding very well to Vetmedin, Theophylline, Lasix cocktail. Heart is sounding good and Basil is heartworm negative. Thank God for that small win. 🙏 He still plays every day and has a sunny disposition. 💓
We are about $1500 into Basil with no end in sight and would appreciate any donations towards his medical as we navigate getting to the bottom of whatever is causing this. We have zero background as he was brought into the shelter on 4/11/24 as a stray, and from our observation of his behavior, he was an outside only dog. Please pray 🙏🙏🙏 we can figure this out. As I stated last update, this seems "flu-ish," and even the pneumonia is unlike any we've seen. Somewhat reminds me of the mystery illness that our little boy, Miloh of Hesperia, rescued the summer of 2020 had. We healed him after thousands were spent, but the lab was never able to tell us what was actually wrong with him after every test known to God and mankind was done, and his recovery lasted months.

BASIL BARON PUPDATE #2
He's all legs and loves to play ball so I bought him a dozen new ones today! He slides in to fetch like he's in MLB and sends up a little cloud of sand. 😂
Basil is quickly stealing my heart. ⚘️ Last night I carried him to bed as I didn't think he'd understand the dog stairs. He didn't. This morning he didn't know how to get off the bed and he and Sawyer both patiently waited for me to come back to get them. Last night, he began to shake when I sat him on my bed. I think he thought he was in trouble? Sawyer just started watching TV at the foot of the bed and settled in quickly. I cuddled and talked to Basil, and covered him completely except for his head. Finally, he curled up into a perfect ball like a cat, legs tucked away so neatly and he slept all night with my hand on him.
He's also quite docile taking his meds and letting me do the eyedrops now. The first time he was scared.
He's really a very special boy. Tomorrow we are starting to take applications for fostering. I'd love for him to find someone semi retired, working from home, so he can play ball all day ❤️ and get one on one attention as he heals. I think he may just be perfect. 😍
