Contracts have all been returned and we are ready to start seeing Jex back in Action.

PM for waiting list and we will start with those contracts first in the case that a contract may not fill and I will carry it over to 2025 as well if requested.

Now that Summer is home and the fast pace time of year has settled, Jex will be back with Summer this coming week to get cleared and vetted for the Rodeo road w her.

We will be doing some special contract opportunities throughout the 2024 Breeding season, so keep an eye out for that.

-Just a reminder to anyone who has submitted a set of mares papers. If your mare is in someone else’s name at time of breeding, that name will go on the stallion report. This could make things difficult for transfers etc.

This 24 year old, one eyed, buckskin gelding needs no introduction. He has made Kadence’s dreams of winning at a p*e wee level come true. There hasn’t been a race she entered that she didn’t win something w her “man”
This horse will only go as fast as his rider is ready for but not fast enough for Kadence as she has stepped up to youth. This horse needs a little girl he can carry and help build confidence for.
This horse knows the barrel and pole patterns and can seriously do them blind consistently every run without knocking. He has done sorting, roping, and was an old high school rodeo horse.

In a herd he loves the ladies and will pick a little at a gelding but not bad by any means

He gets ridden by a little girl and has never complained or taken an off step so I dont do any maintenance on him what so ever. He is so quiet and cautious of his little people that you have a built in baby sitter.

He only eats good quality hay w mineral blocks. He is such an easy keeper even for 24. He surely has a good couple of years to get a 3-8 year old kid to their next level as well.

He has been there done that and is legged up ready to go. There isn’t ANYTHING that phases this horse. Anyone who gets on his back will have a guardian angel carrying them and the safety of a child has no dollar amount.

Her story is beyond a miracle

Never underestimate the power of a mother

This mare has been empty for three years and as of last year her hind gut tucked up and it looked like someone put a rubber band around her, right in front of her hip. After multiple vets looking at her we still never figured it out. She is one of our best producing mares and was a shame she would possibly never have another foal.

I exposed her to Yuma Driftin Pine last year and as most know a mare losing weight rarely will carry a foal along with her long back making her prone to her uterus sinking in further which in turn pulls everything else in and down. This makes it easy for bacteria, wind sucking and just an unhealthy setting to grow a foal. after exposure to the stallion we took her home and after about 4 months she had chunks that looked like oatmeal coming out of her.

This mare clearly had something going on in her uterus so once again back to the vet. Did an ultrasound to look for a baby and nothing was found so we went on to do a UTERAN LAVAGE 😳😳 we flushed her uterus out and so much crap came out it wasn’t funny. We did not give lutalyse to open the cervix THANK THE LORD. she was placed on antibiotics and I was going to take her back to stitch her up part way so less bacteria could get in there but she picked up and was doing great.

She looked fit but no where near pregnant at 25 years young she foaled the greatest gift a mare could give you, a daughter to carry on her legacy

Sportz Equine Therapy/Sportz Memories for the massage, oils and patches and Dr Hal Brown for The chiropractic work. You guys have been crucial to Jex, making him feel his best while we are asking him to go down the performance road as well as being a breeding stallion at the same time.
He seriously tells me when it’s time to see you guys again by constantly trying to give releases, opening his jaws as far as they will open.
I appreciate all you guys do and I know Jex does as well.

The 3 hour drive and the money spent on these services are beyound worth it and I couldn’t recommend you guys more.

I have often reached out on a quick whim for high resolution photos due to one magazine or an incentive program or just pictures for the public and she is always asking when and where.

We are so excited to announce that Gene Moench Performance Horses has secured a farm spot in The Diamond Classic. Our farm is now part of a million dollar barrel racing incentive!

What does this mean? This means that ANY horse that has been bred by OR under the ownership of Gene Moench Performance Horses or Rebekah Anger they will be able to run for BIG added money. Anyone that has bred to our stallions for the past 42 years, those foals are eligible as well!!. The thing I LOVE about this, is that many horses that have came through the Gene Moench program are not all by big time stallions, and is now eligible to run at HUGE payout events. They are setting it up in regions, with big side pots and then they will be having a 1.1 million money race, modeled a lot like the pink buckle, in a central location once a year. The even better thing is, it’s only a 1 time nomination fee of $250 and does not have to be paid until their 3 year old year! After the purchase of the farm slot I believe you will have up to one year after to send in enrollments for the horses already on the ground and or running.

‼️foals are eligible if breeding was done under Genes or myself, so If Gene Moench or Rebekah Anger is the breeder on your papers, they are eligible. Foal crops since 1982‼️

I feel this one greatly benefits all of his foal owners and If you have bought a horse from me or Gene Moench that was in my name or Genes when you purchased it (not a consignment horse) your horse is automatically eligible. They do not have to be by our stallions.

Headed for collection just to have as insurance in case anything were to ever happen to him.

He will not be available until 2026 to outside mares.

Until then we will have options to purchase foals in utero to the select GM mares.

Cachaca Flit passed away before they were able to collect him. Leaving behind 3 stud prospects, recently the 4 year old and oldest of the stud prospects was gelded for untold reasons.
Fire Water To Fame “Sonny” now 3 years old and the oldest stallion prospect left out of Cachaca Flit. Then finally a coming 2 year old which resides in Texas.

These foals are all incentive bred and will update the list in March as to which ones.

I Am beyond blessed to have a mentor that has made me analyze this very same thing.

Some of the best breeding stallions out there have never been “proven” and I’m constantly being told that you use the very best mares to breed not to be proven, you can train them, ride them, use them, but their performance is in the pastures producing offspring.

My performance horses are different from my breeding horses because they aren’t always confirmationally the same.

I need confirmation different when it comes to mares being able to produce a foal compared to confirmation to perform in events.

Base word for conformation is conform - take what needs improvement and compliment her fault with his strengths. It’s like a puzzle and we have to find the right pieces to make a perfect picture.

The building blocks have been set for the Gene Moench quarter horses and it has been more than what I have dreamed of doing as quarter horse breeder. If you ever get the chance or have a couple extra hours in your life. Learn from the generations before you. Actually pick up the phone and call them, go to their house and have a cup of coffee with them. Amazing what you learn and how it will help you pave a path to your success.

From the Hills of Montana to the Plains of Texas I have extensively visited big ranches, breeding facilities, and performance arenas.

Biggest Take Away

-You can’t do it all, you cant be a breeder, get the babies on the ground, care for, train them, travel the country and perform w them at top levels and promote.

Everyone has a stronger talent in certain areas.

Look at the racing industry!!!!
Owner, breeder, trainer, jockey, groom, vet

There are so many parts to support a good operation and sustain it.

I surely do appreciate the support that I have in raising some animals that haven’t only blessed Gene, his friends and family but mine as well.

Blessed to be taking over and continuing a legacy of Quarter Horses that comes w a history.

-FUN FACT-
GM stands for Gene Moench and if anyone who knows who driftwood is, they should know who Gene Moench is !!!!!!!!

Gene Moench and Jim Morris are the founders of the DRIFTWOOD BREEDERS ASSOCIATION !!!!!!

Sherry Cervi’s father, Mel Potter swears on the driftwood horses and significantly bought out GMs Drift Chip, who produced MP Thriftwood, while Drifts Chip was standing at the 6666s Ranch.

Gene Moench has stated that, “he culled Drifts Chip due to colts being broncy and cold backed.”

In GMs later years he discovered the MR Gunsmoke horses as he traveled to the biggest ranches in the country in search of the best looking horses that he studied through movement and dispositions. Once he realized while picking out several colts of mixed bloodlines that the six he chose were all out of a son of Mr Gun smoke which was Smoke it to em, he knew that there was something to the way Mr Gunsmoke Stamped his offspring.

After Gene realized and started breeding Mr Gunsmoke horses, he soon realized he had a hard time selling the Driftwood offspring if the Gunsmokes were in his pastures. This was the turning point for Gene Moench from Driftwood to Gunsmoke.

It wasn’t just that GM turned away from Driftwood completely, he just added some Gunsmoke to make his program that more powerful.

A band of Mr Gunsmoke bred mares started out producing anything he ever produced before and this was his theory. ITS THE MARE POWER, the mares will compliment the stallion you place on her. Obviously the mares have to undergo extensive evaluation before even being thought about being bred. Once her qualifications are met than they can make it the breeding pens. Out of 10 fillies were lucky to keep two each year after they have been evaluated so that we only keep the very best for breeding. The rest are sold for performance or personal riding horses.

Both sire and dam are in their mid 20s and both are at high fertility.

Keep in mind the older the horse the less fertile they become but if they are conditioned properly they can preform.

As long as the horses are actively in the program they have been conditioned and have been doing this for over a decade. If you think your barrel horse, cutter, Reiner is a performer because it is athletic and constantly being “legged up”, than you have to understand that my brood mares and stallions are also performing. They have been “legged up” for their performance of producing.
