SpayStreet is designed to inspire, educate and promote a social agenda of spay/neuter, adoption and lifetime care.

SpayStreet was developed in rural Bastrop Tx, in response to the culture of animal neglect/abuse in that poor county. In two years, over 550 target animals were fixed for free, preventing thousands of uncared for pets.
During the first year of implementing the SpayStreet outreach program for a large shelter in Austin, 1100 target animals from poor neighborhoods were fixed and vaccinated. Two thirds of those animals were female dogs and cats. Several hundred other dogs/cats were voluntarily owner surrendered, reinforcing SpayStreet's philosophy of 'less is more.'
Owners in income-poor areas are encouraged to improve their lives by reducing animal numbers through spay/neuter.
