Iris's final litter was due Monday/Tuesday but made it's appearance between 1:00 am and 4:30 am Saturday morning. There were two pups, a black and white male-Roku and a sesame female-Kyoshi. Iris is doing great and so is Roku. Unfortunately, Kyoshi was born with a cleft palate and other complications. She had to be tube fed every 2-4 hours and struggled to regulate her body temperature more than typical puppies. While it seemed she would be fine with extra care and surgery down the line as she was feeding well with the tube, there were other complications unbeknownst to us that she was also fighting that caused her body to begin rejecting the food and coming back up. Her last feeding she seemed be headed in the right direction as she was able to handle it all. She went to sleep with a full belly and all cuddled up under her momma. When it was time for her 7:00 am feeding, we went to wake her up to find she had passed in her sleep. ❤️ 💔 She fought hard the past 24 hours and is no longer suffering. Enjoy the few photos we did have of our little Kyoshi "warrior" and a few of Roku.
There are also photos of what a typical puppy palate looks like versus the cleft palate that doesn't connect. Hopefully this will help another breeder in the future!
