Public Enemy #1: Hoary Alyssum
This common pasture w**d is toxic to horses, goats, and sheep. Ingestion can cause leg swelling and pain, fever, and lethargy. Hoary Alyssum is toxic both fresh and dried in hay. Your best bet is to yank out what you see and try to pick out of hay as you come across it. Critters typically avoid it, but will munch if pastures are sparse.

In light of recent changes with other veterinary practices, we’d like to encourage ALL ANIMAL OWNERS to be proactive in establishing a relationship (VCPR) with a veterinarian before emergency strikes. It’s important to know which practices see which species and if emergency on-farm services are available. Your veterinarian is an excellent resource for day to day questions or concerns and maintenance/routine care. Please don’t wait until you are in crisis mode and scrambling to find a vet. Also important is to line up a friend or neighbor with a trailer in case you don’t have one.
To clarify: we happily see horses, goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas and camels for routine and emergency visits. We provide in home euthanasia for dogs and cats on a routine and emergency basis as well. In home small animal routine care is very limited to previously established clients.
We use the office numbers 616-696-1262 or 616-481-1801 for regular hours and the pager 616-351-1180 for after hours emergencies - please enter your phone number- NOT your zip code. Please also DO NOT TEXT the pager or Facebook message for emergencies.
We will do our very best to cover as much as we can within a 50 mile radius of cedar springs with 1 doctor.
We appreciate your business and value our relationships with our clients!!❤️
