Residents in the Mimarchelle Dr in Rockmart, be on the look out for this cat! Her owner was driving back down to Florida when the cat got loose from her vehicle. If you find her or see her, please call our office, 770-749-8098. Her owner is very worried and is staying in town until she finds her cat.

As this storm gets closer, please make sure if you have outside pets that they have somewhere safe to get to and it's secured! If you loose a pet during this storm please send an email to us, [email protected], be sure to attach pictures of your missing pet, a good contact name with phone number and let us know the area you are in. We have already had an increase in missing pets from yesterday's storm and we will continue to keep an eye out! Everyone be safe.

Polk County Animal Control will be closed to the Public due to sickness in our kennels. We Cannot take in any animals at this time. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Our shelter has seen a dramatic increase in puppy dumps and owner surrenders from April to present, we cannot express enough how important it is to vaccinate your animals as well as Spay and Neuter. Northwest Ga has several resources for low cost clinics available to us.

This young boy is named Farley. Just at a year old, Farley is a sweetheart and has lots of energy to share with a new family!! Shelter life is tough for him bc he is such a fun loving boy. Shelter kennels are adequate for a little while and not intended to be kept in for long periods of time. Farley has been at Polk AC for just over a month!! He is already Neutered and will just need his Yearly Rabies vaccine! His adoption fee this week is $15! Please come visit him and someone take him home!

This week's list unfortunately includes 2 very sweet mama dogs with babies. First is Pumpkin with her 8, 5 week old babies and Foxy with her 3, Newborn babies. Shelter life for pregnant or Nursing moms is very loud and stressful. Please share with Rescues to help get these mamas out of here.

Two dogs on this week's list is Clifford (grey and white) and Grant (mostly grey). They are both sweet Big boys! They are Pit Bulls and as you know Polk AC uses Rescue to adopt Pit Bulls in order to protect the breed. We love our local Rescue HERO Homes 4- Ever who is able to assist us with all our Pits. Polk AC has a Bunch of Adult cats that need Rescue!! The cats have been kept separated from the dogs during the quarantine! Staff have taken extra precautions to not spread any illnesses. Once the quarantine is up All the Cats at AC run the risk of being on an Euthanize List! Their Cat room is FULL!!
