Wish your dog would come to you consistently? Recall or coming to you is important. When your dog’s “Recall” is effective allows them more off leash opportunities.
Here I discuss how to use a training collar in an unobtrusive manner. No more yelling or repeating yourself. Here no voice just a tone and this independent dog comes every time!
Worth watching.

The joy of being a dog.
Jimi Hendrix and Joplin running free.
What makes a great dog is one that fits in your world (including my heart) and not the other way around.
Fishing Oak Creek near Sedona AZ. Jimi knows his role to hold a stay and be still as I fish up stream. I’m taking him to dog beach this afternoon with his cousin Sadie.

It’s important to know the background here.
Someone saw Kaylan trying to walk Ryder a rescue, in the park. He had gotten loose and would not come. His wife was unable to walk Ryder due to his impulsiveness and constant pulling. This dog was out of control and they were wondering if they would keep him.
This is Ryder today during session number three. Both Ryder, Kaylan, and Chris are figuring it out.
Good communication results in good harmony.

I met Moose at 11 weeks old when he entered my Emersion Program.
His owners send him to me for tune ups when they are out of town. He goes where I go when I have him. Last May we were in Sedona. It beats boarding the dog and I get to reinforce the Emersion training he got as a pup as well as introduce diverse conditions and environments.
Here I’m reinforcing the heal command he’s learned While in a golf cart we are passing live stock and wild life and he and Jimi stay on command.
What a great moment in his life. Great dog!
Live out of state and don’t want to fly him to me? Don’t forget I offer remote services as well.

Effective communication is important for expanding your dog’s horizons in your life.
Ive been working on a new concept for Jimi Hendrix that is similar to heel but for the two leggeds it’s more of a “ wheel”.
Jimi runs while I ride. He needs to stay on the sidewalk and automatically stops if I stop. If I continue thru an intersection he continues straight thru to the next sidewalk. We started practicing in the neighborhood and now are comfortable on bigger streets.
Today we rode down to a Starbucks where we are hanging out together.
He will be one fit dog by the end of summer.
Notes from the Puppy Coach
Saying Good bye…
It’s just as important to plan on your dog’s last day as their first day. We usually outlive our furry friends and inevitably will we have to say goodbye. It’s tough and I’ve had to say goodbye way too many times.
Have a plan before you’re in the middle of it. It’s tough to be objective when you find out your dog is sicker than you thought. I have found my self thinking we could beat it only to realize in the end that it was more about keeping my dog around for my sake only eventually realizing the dog has been ready to go and it was all about me not the dog. I felt sad for my loss but guilty for extending Nakita’s final painful days.
With our next pup Coltrane, we had a plan day Suddenly he was old and I remember that tough day of learning he was sick and together we went home and cried. I set a follow up that next week with Dr. Converse to discuss options having a clearer head. I then and set a date allowing for a month of road trips and a party allowing Coltrane to be the dog he was right up to the end.
Having a dog in your life is the best but it also carries a responsibility to be their advocate when the time comes. Only you and your loved ones can make that call of when.
Finally I will always have a dog in my life so I usually have two and try to stagger them about 4 years apart.
Here you have Joplin helping both me and Coltrane transition. In the end, Coltrane was surrounded by love from beginning to end.
We miss and love that dog.
Kerry and Tundra needed help pulling on the leash. We fixed that and raised expectations. Whole new experience for the two of them walking.
Nice job Kerry!
As a life coach for dog owners, one of the biggest things I preach is effective communication. There are many ways to communicate with your dog. Verbally and non verbally. Some examples of non verbal communication is eye contact, body posture and of course hand signals. Dogs are really good with non verbal communication so as a dog owner so should we.
See how this young dog owner uses both.
