Wish your dog would come to you consistently? Recall or coming to you is important. When your dog’s “Recall” is effective allows them more off leash opportunities.
Here I discuss how to use a training collar in an unobtrusive manner. No more yelling or repeating yourself. Here no voice just a tone and this independent dog comes every time!
Worth watching.

The joy of being a dog.
Jimi Hendrix and Joplin running free.
Been pretty busy with my Emmersion program.
Meet Harlow a sweet Chocolate Lab and Moose who is back for another refresher.
While I tethered Harlow to Jimi, both Jimi and Moose were of leash while I grabbed a burger and shake at the Shake Shack.

For those that use collars for your dogs . I would recommend the Martingale collar. All dogs that come into my immersion program must wear one. How can’t slip over their ears.
Spent a few days fishing Oak creek near Sedona Az. Jimi at 2.5 years old continues to be a great fishing dog. Knows how to be still and not spook the already skittish fish because of the eagles and herons.
So lucky to have Jimi in my life.
Interesting story… worth the read!

I saw one of the best feel good movies called King Arthur starring Mark Wahlberg. Based on a real life story of a dog. Must see!

For those traveling for the holidays and looking to board your dog please take precautions. There is a contagious respiratory virus that is similar to pneumonia and can be deadly. Attached is a Washington Post Article with more details.
If you have to travel I would recommend finding a small boutique boarder without a lot of dogs. The fewer the better.
I may be able to direct you to someone who can help you out.

Golden retriever Puppies!!
Looking for your first puppy or looking to add a buddy for your current dog?
My breeder has a litter available over the holidays and he brings preordered pups to Denver for pickup.
Curtis,
We currently have a litter of Goldens that will be ready for homes over the holidays. I would likely arrange for delivery between Christmas and New Year's. I plan to give you a call in the next few days.
These were taken yesterday—the pups are three weeks old now. Let me know if you have any trouble with the links.

Puppies are the gift of a lifetime.
I’ve gotten three from Al Sersland a breeder out of Kansas. All of my dogs from Al are extremely high performers and I highly recommend this breeder of AKC Golden’s.

What do you do to help build confidence while minimizing the affect of post litter separation?
Pictured here is 8 week old Joplin and Coltrane.
Adding Coltrane in the kennel facilitates the transition process, helps acclimate the Puppy to kennel life until housebroken.
No barking or whining.
If you’re a dog person I recommend a second dog 3-5 years apart that way your current dog helps the puppy to understand the “Pack” culture. Joplin’s personality was strongly influenced by Coltrane her mentor.

With the cold weather, I recommend keeping a doggie bag in your trunk containing an insulated rug section or pad, and a blanket. I also keep in that bag a leash, water bowl, and a doggie water canteen.
Insulating your dog from the concrete will keep them warmer and comfortable. If your dog will stay on the insulated mat and under a blanket an adult dog can be comfortable waiting outside for a couple of hours at 27 degrees or warmer. I would not leave a puppy out side for an extended period of time below 35 degrees unless covered and on the pad. If there is another dog to cuddle they will be more comfortable.
Always check on your dog and put them in the car if they are shivering.

Desensitizing your dog to loud noises like thunder and fireworks should be done early and often. It can be accomplished throughout the year. The benefit is a less reactive dog that will allow them to thrive in different environments.
Jimi Hendrix held his stay as he supervised my leaf 🍁 blower operations.
Good dog Jimi.

THUNDER 🤣🤣🤣🐕
Here’s and article that discusses the question if our dogs are living shorter lives today. This focuses on Golden Retrievers but applies to many AKC breeds.
Thanks to Dan Mills for sharing.

It’s important to know the background here.
Someone saw Kaylan trying to walk Ryder a rescue, in the park. He had gotten loose and would not come. His wife was unable to walk Ryder due to his impulsiveness and constant pulling. This dog was out of control and they were wondering if they would keep him.
This is Ryder today during session number three. Both Ryder, Kaylan, and Chris are figuring it out.
Good communication results in good harmony.

Always great to get videos from clients enjoying hanging out with their dogs. This is Sade an Emersion dog at a that went thru the Puppy Coach’s Emersion program last year. Christopher Carol Perry and Sade are vacationing out in California. They love having a low maintenance dog in their life. Feel free to send me cool videos of you and your dog that I may post. www.ThePuppyCoachRocks.Com
I met Moose at 11 weeks old when he entered my Emersion Program. His owners send him to me for tune ups when they are out of town. He goes where I go when I have him. Last May we were in Sedona. It beats boarding the dog and I get to reinforce the Emersion training he got as a pup as well as introduce diverse conditions and environments. Here I’m reinforcing the heal command he’s learned While in a golf cart we are passing live stock and wild life and he and Jimi stay on command. What a great moment in his life. Great dog! Live out of state and don’t want to fly him to me? Don’t forget I offer remote services as well. www.thePuppyCoachRocks.com
Effective communication is important for expanding your dog’s horizons in your life. Ive been working on a new concept for Jimi Hendrix that is similar to heel but for the two leggeds it’s more of a “ wheel”. Jimi runs while I ride. He needs to stay on the sidewalk and automatically stops if I stop. If I continue thru an intersection he continues straight thru to the next sidewalk. We started practicing in the neighborhood and now are comfortable on bigger streets. Today we rode down to a Starbucks where we are hanging out together. He will be one fit dog by the end of summer.
Notes from the Puppy Coach Saying Good bye… It’s just as important to plan on your dog’s last day as their first day. We usually outlive our furry friends and inevitably will we have to say goodbye. It’s tough and I’ve had to say goodbye way too many times. Have a plan before you’re in the middle of it. It’s tough to be objective when you find out your dog is sicker than you thought. I have found my self thinking we could beat it only to realize in the end that it was more about keeping my dog around for my sake only eventually realizing the dog has been ready to go and it was all about me not the dog. I felt sad for my loss but guilty for extending Nakita’s final painful days. With our next pup Coltrane, we had a plan day Suddenly he was old and I remember that tough day of learning he was sick and together we went home and cried. I set a follow up that next week with Dr. Converse to discuss options having a clearer head. I then and set a date allowing for a month of road trips and a party allowing Coltrane to be the dog he was right up to the end. Having a dog in your life is the best but it also carries a responsibility to be their advocate when the time comes. Only you and your loved ones can make that call of when. Finally I will always have a dog in my life so I usually have two and try to stagger them about 4 years apart. Here you have Joplin helping both me and Coltrane transition. In the end, Coltrane was surrounded by love from beginning to end. We miss and love that dog.
Kerry and Tundra needed help pulling on the leash. We fixed that and raised expectations. Whole new experience for the two of them walking. Nice job Kerry!
As a life coach for dog owners, one of the biggest things I preach is effective communication. There are many ways to communicate with your dog. Verbally and non verbally. Some examples of non verbal communication is eye contact, body posture and of course hand signals. Dogs are really good with non verbal communication so as a dog owner so should we. See how this young dog owner uses both. www.thepuppycoachrocks.com
