Just because Mamma has the day off doesn’t mean she has nothing to do! Breakfast is still served. She really thinks we don’t know she hides our meds in our food, but we don’t care. Of course, we cleaned our dishes!

It is nice when she’s home. We get to play in the yard more and snuggle more.

This morning Spike is sporting his reversible jacket. It fits him snuggly and he seems to like it.

Simple horse blanket style that velcros underneath. Black and white buffalo plaid on the other side.

We wanted to take a moment to talk about our work. This is Cocoa. Cocoa came to us after his owner had a stroke. His stroke was pretty severe and he died a few weeks later. His owner's family couldn't care for him and had brought him to the rescue. Cocoa is an older yorkie mix. We had him evaluated by our vet. He has end stage liver disease and is now in our fospice program.

We are one of the few rescues that does sanctuary and fospice. This work takes a village and vets and fosters who are expert at making sure these animals have comfortable lives. Most rescues are all about the adoption fee. Vetting isn't as important. Animals are adopted out without neutering or spay procedures. We are different. We think that's important.

Lily is all clean and pretty this morning. Her hair is coming in very well. She's a happy little girl that likes to play.

So Montague says there was a bit of a boo boo with this morning's post. Seems his photo got lost in the shuffle. That's OK we told him. We'll put you up tonight. This senior poodle has grown back the fur he was missing and he's gained some good weight! He seems to have a bit of heart trouble. He's going to meet his new vet on Saturday and we know she'll do a thorough assessment of the old man. Then he will meet his groomer who we know will have him looking spiffy in no time. Montague you're one lucky pup you are.
