Trey's weekly blood sugar test was great! First time in months he has been in the normal range. His weight is staying steady at around 25 #. Not too bad for this 14-year-old guy.
I've been reflecting on our journey together. He came into my life at about 3 months old. He was a foster to adopt puppy from Angels of Assisi in Roanoke. I got him to be a playmate for Cherokee. He was so small and Cherokee was a good mother figure for him. He's been full of energy his entire life. I remember him running up and down the hall in my apartment - bouncing off the bed, down the hall, and bouncing off the couch, and back again, repeatedly. He flew through the air and landed in my plate of pizza before I knew what happened. He worked hard to drag his bed up onto the couch (he was so little). He's always been a character!
Over the years Trey has settled down some. He no longer drags me down the street but still could if he chose too. He still gets so excited to go riding in the car and it's a struggle to get him calm enough to put his harness on. He's become a very calm car rider. He loves to go anywhere, anytime.
He had knee surgery when he was about 2 years old and has otherwise been quite healthy. This diabetes diagnosis has been an unexpected bump in the road, but he doesn't let it slow him down. He still loves to run around the yard, yell at Opie (the resident possum), and snuggle in with Mamma.
He's loved so much and I am Blessed to have him in my life.
