🤔💭 Imagine a world where AI doesn't replace humans but empowers them to achieve more. That's the vision we're bringing to life at Digitail.

As Sebastian Gabor, our co-founder, says, 'AI isn’t built to replace humans. However, someone using AI will replace someone not using AI.' This is the cornerstone of our approach: using AI not as a replacement but as an enhancement to the human touch in veterinary care. 🐾

Inspired by leaders like Dr. Cody Creelman at (Fen Vet) and Clint Latham, J.D. (Lucca Veterinary Data Security), and Dr. William Tancredi (Old Ridge Veterinary Hospital), who have been at the forefront of understanding and embracing the implementation of AI in veterinary practices. Their commitment to innovation mirrors our own.

At Digitail, we're not just developing software; we're crafting an AI-powered ecosystem that understands and adapts to the unique needs of veterinary practices and pet owners. Join us in this journey as we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in veterinary medicine.

On a morning so busy that if my hair caught fire my first priority still wouldn’t be extinguishing it, it was a text from my sister to remind me of the date.

Today is the three-year anniversary of Old Ridge Veterinary Hospital, and it’s been an honor and a privilege to do this job I love in my hometown.

So many people have helped me to build and cultivate my dream that I cannot list them all. My gratitude knows neither bounds nor limits to each and every one of you.

This vocation of mine is a central part of this life I’m grateful to lead, and the opportunity to continue to do it here with all of you is the greatest accomplishment I could imagine.

A football coach once asked his team, “Where else would you rather be than right here, right now?” And as long as I’ve been doing this, I can’t dream of an answer.

Thank you all so much, from the very bottom of my heart.

An obituary, found by my Dad, of his uncle, my great uncle, Fred McGuigon, who landed at Normandy as part of the Allied invasion that would break the N**i hold on continental Europe. The invasion resulted in more than 10,000 Allied casualties.

Fred was awarded a Purple Heart. He used to joke that he’d won it because he’d hurt his knee playing football in the field.

Fred also won a Silver Star. He didn’t joke - or even talk - about that one at all.

Happy Independence Day.

Almost exactly eight years ago, a friend of mine rescued a young, heartworm-positive hunting dog from a high-kill shelter. I was working at another hospital at the time, and I said I’d try to help get him adopted.

He was a sweet-but-wily dog, a master escape artist, a wanderer, and hated to be alone. He would be described as “the funniest bad dog ever” after being found buried in the winter coats piled on a bed. I treated him, and very nearly kept him.

Then one of my clients lost their dog suddenly. And in talking with her about it, she mentioned that they wanted another beagle. “If you know anybody,” she said.

With poor taste but excellent timing, I said, “I have this dog I’m fostering…”

Despite living with me for awhile, I hadn’t named him other than shouting his breed when he’d run off. In frustrated shouting, “beagle” sounded like “Bagel.” It stuck.

Mary and Den had been good clients, but I didn’t really know them. I was busy burning myself out working 80-hours a week for a corporate hospital and didn’t have any sort of social life. They struck me as kind and friendly people, and I was fascinated that they were professional scientists and professional musicians. I was reluctant to give up this “foster,” but I had a feeling their family was the right fit.

They adopted Bagel. And I’ve been fortunate to become friends with these remarkable people. Knowing I loved this beagle, they were friendly enough to keep me as their veterinarian even though I’d moved away. And being wonderful and kind, they kept me as their friend too.

Today we said goodbye to Bagel the beagle. Bodies are fragile, time is fleeting, and impermanence gets the best of us all. He was so lucky to have been adopted by Mary and Den, who would give him all the love and care and fun that every dog deserves. Musicians and scientists, I think, often give freely, naturally sharing their gifts and talents with others. For Mary and Den, Bagel got the best of them. And as their friend, so did I.

It is always sad to say goodbye, grief often the inevitable price of love. But I try to take heart in the years of joy and love brought by this little beagle. It is a miracle that it happened at all.

There are few things that bring joy in the way that seeing people you care about be happy and successful.

Tyler and Sam were undergrads taking online classes on pandemic furlough when Old Ridge opened. They helped build the hospital and ORVH wouldn’t be what it is without them.

Tonight they helped (dare I say led?) the students in beating the faculty at the hockey game.

I couldn’t be happier for or prouder of them. They’re going to be great doctors.
