🐾 The newest member of the ShamPooches pack has arrived! 🐾

Grant Ashford D’Urso arrived Tuesday 4/02 at 6:06pm weighing 9 lbs & 10 oz and 21 1/2 inches long. He is such a wonderful addition to our family and we have loved every second of him!

💙APRIL 2ND IS THE DATE 💙

Baby ShamPooches has decided he doesn’t want to wait any longer or even until his due date for that matter so he will be making his grand appearance next Tuesday April 2nd, a lot earlier than anticipated! We are scheduled to go in at noon next Tuesday and he should be here a few hours later 👶🏻

I will be reaching out today to all of you with appointments next week to get you adjusted so we can still get your pups in and keep them feeling fresh on schedule before he comes! I will be out of commission physically for a few weeks but Vince will be back Friday April 5th so we shouldn’t have to disrupt the flow of your scheduled appointments 🐶 🛁 💪🏼

Please bear with us as we adjust to life as a family of 4 and prepping for baby a few weeks earlier than we thought. I will be out of office and won’t be answering any messages until at least Monday April 8th and will get back to you in order received so please be patient with me! Thank you all so much for your love and support and we are so excited to show him to you guys and embark on this journey as our little ShamPooches Family grows again!

🩵 💙 We have some exciting news to share!! 💙 🩵

ShamPooches is expanding by 10 fingers and 10 toes! Baby Boy #2 is coming mid April 2024! If you have a pre scheduled appointment around that time we will have to adjust it but will cross that bridge when the time comes! Vince will be taking a little time off and will be retuning solo for about a month or so until I come back with him so please be patient with us during that time 🤪 we are so excited to meet our new little man!

We met this little elf today and she was PRECIOUS! 7 month old Sassy got her first bath with us and in the famous words of Buddy himself, “I’m in love I’m in love and I dont care who knows it!” 🎅🏼 🎄

Fun fact…Sassy is quite the mix. Her pawrents did a DNA test on her and told us the top 3 breeds that she came back as. Can you guess any of them!?!? I’m betting no one can, I like to think of myself as quite the dog breed enthusiast and can usually guess but she had me STUMPED…any guesses!?

⭐️ UPDATE ON THE STRAY PITTY PUP ⭐️

BIG shoutout to Lost Dogs Illinois, they were able to track down her owner and get in contact with him. He lives here in Champaign area and was at work when the microchip company called him. He said her name is Fergie and she is actually not 6 years old (like we thought) but she is FOURTEEN and deaf! 😱 He claimed she got out of his gate while his sitter was watching his kids. He also claimed he looked for her “a little” and “forgot she was microchipped”. Immediate 🚩 for me because I know if that was my dog I would not give up until she was found (insert Adam Sandler quote from Billy Madison if ya know what I mean 😂) Here’s where things take a turn… when asked when we could bring her home he said he was at work and had to get off the phone, but would call after he got off. The microchip woman gave him my phone number and gave me his as well. It was late but I stayed up until about midnight waiting for his call!
It never came ☹️
The next morning I sent him a text asking when I could bring her home (hoping maybe he was just very tired when he got off and didn’t want to bother me late??) but…no reply. I then texted him again later that evening after no response all day with a not so nice text 🫣 to which I did not get a response again but it made me feel better 🫢 At that point it was clear he did not want her back, and that he had abandoned her. Someone who can abandon their 14 year old dog with medical problems at ANY time let alone going into cold season is absolutely pathetic to me.

🎉 Sooooo……we have decided she has made her new home here with us and can stay and live out the rest of her life as long as that may be. Our son has become so attached to her and she gets along well with our other dogs we just couldn’t turn her into animal control knowing she will be unclaimed and most likely unadoptable due to her age. We had so many shares and comments/likes on my last post (thank you so much to everyone that helped!) but unfortunately not one person has reached out about adopting her. So she’s now officially home and will be loved and treated the way she absolutely should have been her whole life. We threw her a little “pawty” to celebrate, here are some pics of her living her best life!!

‼️SWEET PUP ALERT, LONG POST BUT WORTH THE READ ‼️

This little girl was found last night roaming at the gas station/Dairy Queen on Mattis & Olympian. Incredibly sweet, calm, and essentially begging for attention and food/water. We took her in for the night, gave her some pup grub and fresh water and planned to keep her in our heated garage until morning. She was so thankful 🥺 Naturally Vince immediately offered to sleep out there with her to comfort her so he grabbed our air mattress and they had a little movie night 😂 she did AMAZING and snuggled close all night not once getting up or having any accidents.

This morning we took her to our vet to have her scanned for a chip (Shout out to Harvest Valley Veterinary Services!!) To our surprise she had one!! We were so hopeful we could reunite her with her family! What we found out was that her name is Fergie and she’s assumed to be about 6 years old. The unfortunate part is she was registered to an address in Chicago with a disconnected phone number. Being a pit bull with a Chicago address and finding her at an off the interstate truck stop area is not promising 😔 We also found a lump inside her back legs that appears to be a mammatory tumor. We don’t know for sure but that’s what it looked like upon initial inspection. We can only assume she was brought up here and dumped due to lack of wanting to treat her. We don’t know for sure and I hope I’m wrong but all signs seem to point to that.

She is currently happy and comfortable at our house and is welcome to stay for a little bit while we search for her family. Unfortunately as much as we would love to keep her it’s just not in the cards for us. So after a few days she will officially be on the hunt for a new family 😍 If you or anyone you know is looking for the sweetest, most loving, biggest cuddle bug of a dog you’ll ever meet…send them our way! She’s met our 4 year old son and was very gentle and calm with him, and she didn’t seem reactive to other dogs in the lobby at the vet either. We’ve only had her for about 12 hours so we don’t know much but we want to help her! Please please share this post so we can either reunite her with her previous family or find her a new loving one! This little girl has been through a lot and she deserves it! 🙏🏼

Bonus: If she does go to a new home, ShamPooches will give her free spa days for a whole year 😍😍

Zea wanted to show off her Pawdicure and remind everyone that October is national ⭐️ Pit Bull Awareness Month!!! ⭐️ We absolutely adore this breed as well as any pit mixes. They get such a bad reputation and we at ShamPooches strive to change that! Like any breed, with the right training and socialization they will thrive! FEET FRIDAY 🐾

Even though your dog may not need as frequent grooming as others, ALL dogs have nails and need nail trims! We gave miss Casey some much needed relief today! Taking your pup on lots of walks (on the sidewalk/concrete) is crucial to keeping them filed down in between trims as well! 😁

Our valued “pup”rents,

First off I want to start by thanking you guys for all the support you’ve given us through the years. We truly love what we do and couldn’t do it without you and your pups! On the flip side, I think Vince & I sometimes look at our job as just a hobby and not our actual job and form of income. In doing that we have quickly realized we are significantly undercharging for our mobile services 🫣 After doing a market survey of grooming prices in our area as well as comparing the prices to literally *everything* that has gone up in the world in these past few years…we are incredibly overdue for a price increase. In order to continue to run our business with the quality and assurance we’ve been giving this is something that we have to do. As of July 1st 2023, we will be adjusting to our new price structure. If you already had an appointment booked prior to this post we will still honor the old pricing for that appointment as well as if you are on a pre booked schedule you will have one more appointment at our current price then it will go up to our new. As every dog is different, each dog will be priced based on time/coat condition and I will go over that with you before your next appointment.
Thank you again for your kindness, understanding & support as you truly have watched us build this business from the ground up. We love and appreciate you all!

🚨 Edit to add: this sample pricing below refers to haircut dogs, we are having an increase on just bath dogs as well but it will not be this pricing 🚨

⭐️ Large at $105
Dogs with higher maintenance coats (looking at you, doodles 🤪) will be priced in their own category but again I will be pricing pups individually
