The Good Dog Food Bowl (TGDFB) came into existence about 12 years ago when I became aware of the alarming numbers of family pets that were being given up permanently due to a temporary circumstance. I felt the need to act, to help keep these pets where they belong...with their families. The intent behind TGDFB is to help pet families in need be able to keep their beloved pets in their home and NOT
relinquished to an already overburdened shelter system due to the temporary inability to purchase dog food for their dog(s). Sometimes a family needs help just ONE time...just ONE bag of dog food can keep that dog in their home where we want them to be. Sometimes it's a bit longer, and that's okay, we are here to help the best we can. If help is required for an extended period of time and we can't meet the family's needs, TGDFB can offer a list of resources for further assistance. If you are needing assistance with pet food, please visit www.TheGoodDogFoodBank.com or message TGDFB and an application will be sent to you. This simply asks for your name, address, number of dogs, breed/size, what type of dog food they normally eat, how long you anticipate needing assistance and how you heard about TGDFB. The Good Dog Food Bowl runs completely off of the kindness and generosity of compassionate donors. All food items and supplies are donated to the food bank. We rely solely on these donations to help others in need. We are ALWAYS in need of dry pet food donations. Any brand, any diet, any size bag is accepted. The only requirement we have is that donations be sealed/unopened bags of kibble. Brands most requested are Costco/Kirkland Nature's Domain, Pedigree, Kibbles & Bits, Purina ONE, Nature's Recipe & Natural Balance. (TGDFB tries to match the dogs current diet the best we can so that the dog does not experience any GI symptoms, which can happen with a sudden diet change. It's not always possible, but we try if at all possible). We also accept canned/wet food, however we do not have as many requests for it as we do for regular dry kibble. TGDFB also accepts donations of clean, gently used bedding that we take to our local animal shelters. We accept blankets, flat sheets, comforters/quilts, bath/beach towels...if you think you would use it for warmth and comfort, chances are the pups will too! The Goodwill store is an excellent source of gently used bedding. Goodwill has 50% off the store every other weekend (contact the store for the next sale weekend), and Thursdays are Dollar Days and 50% off on selected colored tags. Yard/Garage/Estate sales are another great source for gently used bedding. Donations may be dropped off at various locations throughout the valley, please message us for a location near you. We are also available for pick up of larger donations. Email: [email protected]
