Saturday, February 15th, 2025 is our Valentine Gala. 21755 Harper Road at Lucius Landing . We are having a full Italian meal with a silent auction of desserts and wine. Reservations are $25.00 and can be mailed to PO Box 313 Chanute, Ks 66720. Hope to see you there!!

Blessing of the animals will be Saturday, October 5th at 3:00 pm at the shelter, 21909 Harper Road, Chanute. All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier. Refreshments and tours will be after the blessings. Father Daryl Stanford will be officiating. Please join us.

The banquet is to thank supporters as we get closer to an opening date. Full meal catered by Dr. John’s. Join us for an evening of love and gratitude.

It's cold outside and will continue to be so for awhile! 🥶 If your furry friends 🐈 🐕 outside need a little extra warmth let us know. We would be more than happy to assist! If your are unable to bring your furry friends inside, please at the very least ensure they have adequate shelter/protection from the frigid temperatures. We have a limited amount of straw bales, but we are willing to give all of them away to anyone in need for their pets Free of charge. We will also delivery them within the Chanute, Iola, & Humboldt area all free of charge. Please take advantage of this offer if your pet is outside and does not have adequate shelter against these frigid temperatures. Simply shoot us a message or comment below and we will be more than happy to help 😀😽🐶

Mark you calendar for the Second Annual Valentine Gala. February 14th at the Venue, Lucius Landing, Harper Road in Chanute. Reservations are required and tickets are $30.00 per person, which includes your meal and adult beverages. We will also have a silent auction with fabulous items to bid on. . See you there!!

What is Castaways?

Castaways Animal Shelter and Sanctuary was originally founded in 2004. The original founders saw a need for a non-kill animal shelter that provided a safe haven until they could be adopted. Castaways was formed as a 501(c)3 organization in order to pursue a non-profit organizational structure to shelter cats and dogs in Neosho County and beyond. From 2004-2016, Castaways was focused on raising funds to build a shelter facility and in 2016, groundbreaking commenced after land was donated on Harper Rd, east of Chanute. With continued support and new partnerships, Castaways will become a reality in 2019.
