Ireland is a beauty queen, and, well, she may know it. She can get what she wants just by looking deep into your soul with her beautiful amber eyes. And while she may exude confidence, she’s actually a bit shy and looking for someone to show her the ropes. Ireland would love a short or long term foster home where she can learn everything she needs to know for her forever home. But be prepared, if you’re seen walking her down the street, you’re sure to have many admirers stop to ask you about the beautiful dog you have!

A strapping lad oozing good looks, we’re all a bit surprised Ian hasn’t found his forever family yet. He’s made himself comfortable here at NHES, with good food, plenty of pets and daily exercise, but we feel he would benefit from seeing a bit of the outside world as well. Ian is friendly and smart. Smart means trainable and fun, so any foster home would be able to teach him a load of tricks, making him a truly desirable dog with good looks AND brains. Interested in getting to know him more? He’s available for short or long term foster and would love to meet you today!

For more information on how to become a foster volunteer, please email Ellen at: [email protected]

It's sneak peek Thursday! Sampson and Xena will be available soon!

Sampson is a ~7 month old Golden Retriever / Shepherd Mix. He will likely weigh over 50 lbs with proper nutrition and continued growth. This friendly and gentle fellow has been around children and other dogs and he would love to be a part of your family!

Xena is a German Shepherd Mix who weighs ~41 lbs and is a little over a year and a half old. This super smart and energetic girl loves to play! She would do better in a home with older children and cannot wait to learn lots of new tricks with you!

Sweet Ingrid is looking for a foster home where she can learn all about becoming a princess. She can be a bit timid with strangers but before you know it she’ll bring out her southern hospitality and be asking you to come sit on the porch with her. She’s happy to share her home with another canine companion and would benefit from a canine who can confidently show her how to make the most of living like a southern belle. Ingrid is available for short or long term foster. For more information, reach out to Ellen at: [email protected]

Reunited! Abbey was lost on July 4th and was just found by a good samaritan. Thankfully Abbey had a microchip and we were able to contact her owner. We are overjoyed at this most happy ending! A big thank you to the good samaritan for going the extra mile to get Abbey home again. The picture says it all! 🥰

Jack is still hoping to find a foster home! This boy loves playing with other dogs and his smart personality means he will be a breeze for training and learning the ins and outs of being in your home. He’s a Jack Russell mix who is a bit wary of strangers at first, so a home without children and a foster familiar with small dogs, or terriers, would be ideal.

Briggs Adoptions

Briggs is a popular place where many people want to come to adopt an animal. This is because we are known for loving and taking the utmost care of the animals we receive. We provide the highest standard of medical care to each animal before it is placed for adoption. That’s also why so many people want to surrender dogs and cats to us. However, because we don’t euthanize a healthy animal just to make room for a more popular or more easily-adoptable animal, we often only have a few pups, kittens or popular breeds at any given time. Adopting an animal is a very emotional process and no one is more aware of that than the staff at Briggs.

When we have one adorable puppy or kitten available, we can, and do, receive as many as 20 applications on just that one animal in a day. This is why we state that we will choose what we feel would be the “best match” between the applicants’ lifestyle, home environment and the animal’s personality. We are upfront at the beginning of the application process and ask that if the applicant doesn’t agree with our process, that they don’t continue moving forward with the application. We wish we had the room and money to save many puppies and kittens at one time but we rely on our donation income to staff our building and help the animals. We ask that if you do not receive the animal you are looking at here, please go to another shelter, possibly animal control or a “kill” shelter and save another life. Thank you.
