Hello from Hobbs! This handsome boy sent in his bio and we wanted to share more about this special cat:

“My name is Hobbs! The first thing you will notice about me is that I’m a 3-legged cat. No worries, once you meet me, you’ll see I’m a happy, healthy boy who is ready to join your family.

My foster mom loves to brag about me! This is what she says:

• I have luxurious grey fur, and love to get snuggles.
• I love people and come right up to greet guests.
• I’ve been very good with my foster mom’s grandkids.
• I love sitting in the sun, and I’m able to jump up onto a chair to find a great sunny spot.

The best home for me:
• I must be an indoor cat!
• Dogs make me nervous, so no dogs.
• My foster mom doesn’t have another cat, so we don’t know how I get along with other cats.”

Want to learn more? Email Hobbs’ foster mom at [email protected]. Hobbs is available through - ID: A1237021.

A lot of frosted faces here🥺

These are some of our older dogs (6 years and up) who are sitting at the shelter right now. Golden years are meant to be spent on a comfy, cozy bed, not a concrete floor. We’d love to see these guys head to a foster or committed adoptive home.❤️

King Louie! 👑 He needs our help - please consider Louie for your home, as a foster or forever family member. We want to keep him out of the shelter but his temp foster needs to bring him back in the next few days.

This handsome guy has been bounced around quite a bit lately, we’d love to find him some stability. He’s a great guy - here’s what we know:

- House and crate trained
- Had lived with other dogs and loved them - he does need slow intros when meeting new friends
- Treat motivated
- Easy to walk
- Snuggly couch potato
- Self entertains with toys and bones

We could make a cheesy line about Romeo looking for his Juliet. But we won’t do that to you. Instead we’ll just share what his foster mom says about this sweet, deserving boy.

“I just love Romeo so much. To think he lived on a chain in a trash filled yard but is now such a well behaved dog in a home is incredible! He’s quiet all night in his crate, and for a few hours at a time when home alone. He potties outside, doesn’t react to other dogs on walks, listens to corrections from his humans (the only correction he consistently needs is to not take the doormat from its place by the door). He lives for food from his time of near starvation, but incredibly does not resource guard with other dogs in the home. Instead he wags his tail as if to say “I’m just happy to be here” if resident dog comes nosing around while he’s still eating. He seems younger than the shelter estimate and I suspect he’s between 1 and 2. He doesn’t chase the cat in the house, and doesn’t chase squirrels on walks. He seems to perk up when we meet kids on walks, but does not get excitable around them or jump up. He hasn’t learned the comforts of a couch, but when you’re sitting there he puts his head in your lap or brings you a toy to throw for him. I think Romeo would do well in any home.”

Romeo 101:
• House trained and crate trained
• Was undernourished but is almost at optimum weight
• Non-reactive on leash and enjoys meeting other dogs and people
Non-reactive to cats and no prey drive
Quiet; no barking
Cutest teddy bear face
• Affectionate and gives little licks
• Coexisting nicely in foster with dogs and cats

Cookie is a prime example of why Friends of CMAS is so vital for Animal Care & Control. Cookie has been in and out of our shelter system for over a year now, due in part to a painful eye condition called entropion. Entropion is an abnormality of the eyelids where the lid rolls inward, causing the hair on the surface of the eyelid to rub against the cornea, resulting in pain, corneal ulcers, perforations, or pigment developing on the cornea and vision problems.

Cookie was adopted last spring and the adopter promised to have the surgery done. When she showed back up as a stray, her eyes were worse than ever. Friends agreed to pay for the surgery and Cookie is now in an incredibly loving foster home who is helping her heal and thrive.

Rescue is a vital part of keeping Animal Care & Control animals alive. Friends of CMAS helps coordinate transport for dogs in and out of state and provides gas reimbursement for drivers, too! That helped us saved dozens of lives this year. Our longest trip was to Tampa and back and this year we’re bound and determined to see our pups board some flights!

Help us keep dogs moving in their journey to safe and happy homes. Please donate to Friends of CMAS this .

This , please consider Friends so we can continue to help save dogs like Yoshi!

Yoshi came into the shelter with a painful broken leg that just wouldn’t heal. When the shelter vet team recommended amputation, Friends of CMAS agreed to foot the bill.

Thankfully Yoshi had a dedicated foster who worked with him for months. Like most fosters, she needed to travel and Friends provided her with funds for Yoshi’s boarding. Yoshi had some additional needs around dog socialization, in addition to being a tripod, and returning to the shelter was not an option. Because of the boarding funds, Yoshi was able to go to Natural Breed Kennels Resort where he safely enjoyed his stay! Foster mom shared the peace of mind this gave her was invaluable and she was able to foster Yoshi until he eventually found the perfect home.

Friends of CMAS works throughout the year to fund various needs at the shelter and with our foster families. This includes, but is not limited to:

· Spay/Neuter: Friends spent $1,402 on outside spay/neuter reimbursement for fosters so far in 2024

· Boarding: Friends spent $8,409 on boarding animals so far during 2024 (please remember Thanksgiving and the winter holidays tend to be some of our highest expenses so Friends will be spending quite a bit in the next month or so)

· Transport to rescues: Friends spent $1,216 on transporting animals to rescue in and out of state so far this year

· Foster Supplies: $4,133 spent on foster supplies (this includes crates, food, and other commonly requested expenses)

· Other expenses include tracking for lost dogs, new supplies at the shelter (like leashes, Kurunda beds, harnesses, shampoo and other bath supplies)

Who wouldn’t want a Cranberry at their Thanksgiving table?

This cutie is out in temp foster so she could have a holiday break from the kennels. So far she’s been, it’s been said:
“The kids are in love”
“She is a CUDDLER”
“She made herself right at home”
“She’s like Velcro, we had to draw the line at her joining us in the bathroom😂”
“She is an Angel dog”

Ummm… what are you waiting for?

Berry 101:
🐾 House trained
🐾 Sleeps thru the night
🐾 Likes her crate
🐾 Great with kids
🐾 Cuddly and sweet
🐾 Playful but happy to nap, too
🐾 Doesn’t get into anything when left alone
🐾 Ignored one chill cat, barked at a slightly spicier cat but didn’t chase or lunge
🐾 Unknown about dogs but has shown happy body language at the shelter
🐾Needs some leash training but responds well to redirection and is eager to please

“Play hard, snuggle harder.” - Apollo

That’s what Apollo has to say. Let’s hear from his temp foster!
“Meet Apollo, a young, sweet soul with a heart full of love and a spirit full of goofiness. His friendly demeanor and mellow nature make him a joy to be around. He’s playful and funny, always ready to lighten up the room with his antics. He was surrendered back in October with his sister, who has since been adopted. For the last 6 weeks he’s been wondering when it would be his turn. His unique blend of playfulness and calmness, loyalty and independence, make Apollo the perfect pet to bring joy and laughter into any home!
The pictures here prove just how happy he is to be out of the loud and chaotic shelter. Can you help us keep him out?! The current foster can keep him until the 26th of this month, but will need a new foster lined up after that. Or better yet, an adopter!

If you have ever considered fostering, Apollo is a great one to start with. He is very easy to manage and doesn’t require much besides toys and a soft place to nap. Or if you or anyone you know are in the market to adopt, please consider Apollo!”

Apollo 101:
- Crate trained
- House trained
- LOVES people, children included
- Great temperament
- Non-destructive
- Perfect wfh buddy but content in the crate if you have to leave
- Loves to nap. Seriously, it’s his favorite thing to do!
- Walks well with a harness (will pull with regular leash)
- Loves toys and bones
- No cats or small animals (will chase)
- Since he spent the last 6 weeks in the shelter, at this time we recommend it is best to keep him in a home with no other dogs, or one calm dog who can be properly introduced after decompression. He was surrendered with another dog, but 6 weeks in a loud shelter is a long time, and we want to make sure he is given a fair chance!
