We had to go on shifts because while I slept from 2am-to 6am Xavier made sure Layla and her babies were safe and taken care of. He slept from 6am-2pm and this is the moon-eyed Layla upon his return, glad that her human did not get kidnapped🥰. Since the first week of a new mom and her puppies is stressful and they seek out comfort and guidance, you make sure they are doing self care, eating, sleeping, potty breaks…cause they absolutely do not want to leave their puppies. So she gets meals by hand, water bottles, and chauffeured potty breaks to the outside. If you have ever had kids you know that the first few weeks are tender and exhausting!

Layla’s full name is FaerieMoon Layla Oakleaf so I was thinking we would go for tree theme names this time around. Like: Juniper, Aspen, Cedar, Rowan, Chestnut, Sage, Ash, Cypress, Pecan…What do you think? She is a Miniature Poodle and dad is a ShihTzu. The lighter pups will most likely be a cream color. Too soon to tell the other colors just yet.

At 8:30pm, Layla began labor. Her first puppy being born at 9:49pm and her final puppy at 12:59am, resulting in a litter of four boys and one girl, all various shades of brown.

Just a heads up... with the Shih Tzu's drive for love and snuggles and the Poodle's notorious intellect, you might end up with a furbaby that outsmarts you. I may or may not already have a couple stories from the parents of said puppies…

Puppysitting Chewy! He had a fun time playing with PattyCake and Buttercup, and now he's resting peacefully on his soft blanket from home. He seemed glad that it came with him. 🌟🥰
