Here's a little rabies 101: Never approach, touch, or feed a wild animal, even if you think it's friendly or needs medical attention. Please talk to your children about the importance of not touching wildlife. Let them know that if they do touch or interact with wildlife to tell an adult. It's important to stress they will not get in trouble. If children think they'll get in trouble, they might be too scared to tell someone about potential exposure.
How do I protect my pets? Make sure pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations. Don’t leave unvaccinated puppies and kittens outdoors unsupervised. Report stray animals and wild animals that are acting sick or abnormal to Animal Care and Control at 311.
