He has been here for 99 days. Perhaps we have subconsciously not posted much about Jack because we can't imagine the cat lounge without him. Maybe the way he trots to greet us in the morning, genuinely excited to see us again, the rubbing in and out of each foot step as we enter, would be missed too greatly when he's gone. Maybe we are fiercely protective of his heart, because to KNOW Jack is to LOVE Jack... but it takes time to know his TRUE self. Our team can all attest to his perfection, however his (love) bites, sometimes moody tail flicks followed by his exquisite side-eye turns some people off right away... but wow, what a mistake! I mean, ya gotta respect a man with boundaries in our opinion, right? This guy's quirky personality, funny hippo-like trot, sprinkled white chest and neck hairs, 17lb pear shaped bod, and zen like chill moments make him one of a kind. He loves deeply... touches your hand while sleeping or curls his face against your arm for comfort. His long gazes tell you he respects you, because you respect him - and he's well aware. It's like he wants to TELL you but he can't. He LOVES when people are excited to see him and call out "Jack Jack!" in a high-pitched tone. Man, he SOAKS that right up. He also loves when you try to take selfies with him. He's not the best at them, but he wants to be a social media influencer one day. We have ZERO doubts that's possible... star quality right here. Perhaps we are waiting for that PERFECT human to "get him" and understand his heart - because considering him any less than a mega-star just won't do for us. We now realize though, that his people won't find him unless we share him with the world... so we are going to do more of that starting right now. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Jack McCoy... he's been stealing our hearts for 98 days, but it's time for him to find his true love... is that you?

The Dog Days of Summer have officially arrived. It is the perfect time to remind everyone to take extra precautions for your pets. We are sharing a guide provided by RSPCA. Dogs are susceptible to heat stroke and need ways to stay cool and not be subjected to excessive heat, hot surfaces, direct sun, over exertion, lack of water, or left alone in vehicles. If you suspect your pet is overheating contact your nearest vet and if you see a dog in danger please call the authorities. Let's have a safe and fun summer season with our pets. Stay cool. 😎

Hello sweetie!
I know you must be grieving from your recent losses. Share her story please. Let's find her a forever family.

We welcomed 8 year old Raven to AABR yesterday. Her owner passed away in December. The owner's son reached out to rescue because he is losing his home and no longer has the resources to take care of Raven. She was imported as a puppy and has been very loved by her previous owner. She previously lived with other dogs and she has also lived with cats in the past, but it has been several years. Raven is good with children and very friendly with people. She visited our rescue vet yesterday to be brought up to date. Raven is currently in a temporary foster placement in Maryland. She is looking for a foster or preferably a forever home for adoption. We will post more information as we get to know Raven better.
