About Us
After spending years working in a corporate grooming salon, I realized that those situations were incredibly stressful for pets. They were more like an assembly line of grooms. The number of dogs that could be groomed in one day was the main goal. In this, the pets were rushed in and out. Unfortunately, the pets felt this stress as well as the groomers. It was loud, chaotic at times, and to be honest, a little traumatic for pets. The way they saw things, they were left by their families in a strange place, to be bathed, nails cut, sat on a grooming table and asked to sit still for around an hour or so. This was especially true for elderly pets and pets with underlying health conditions. No matter how sweet and caring the groomer was, the dogs felt this stress in every visit. Another realization hit when my family started to eat healthier and pay closer attention to the ingredients in the food and products we were using daily. An unbelievable amount of toxins are actually allowed in all of our staple beauty supplies, as well as our pet products. This is especially true for pet shampoos, conditioners, and sprays. Some of these ingredients are know to cause cancer and other fatal diseases if used long term. This is why we have chosen to use all natural and organic products at Uwharrie Grooming. These products still allow us to make sure your pet is silky and clean, all while keeping the harsh chemicals out. While we can't put them in a bubble and protect them from every little thing, it is completely within our control to be sure the products we put on their skin (that enter their bloodstream) are safe and non toxic. While we understand that truly hardly any pet really enjoys a bath and haircut, there are steps that can be taken to make it an enjoyable experience and not so stressful. That is the goal of Uwharrie Grooming. To provide a relaxing and calm environment for the pets and groomers, and also to excel in quality grooming. Anywhere from just a nail trim or dremel, to full grooms with haircuts and baths, we strive to bring you and your pet the best possible experience. We want your pets and family to continue to look forward to coming to see us for years to come! ~Misty
