Mr. Winston, the oh-so loving Golden Retriever! Prior to coming to Ridgeside K9 Charlottesville, Winston’s family advised that they were needing an overhaul on impulse control on their overly excited pup.

Winston’s family described him as fun-loving dog, but when he encountered new people, the young fella would lose all control and jump and bark just to say hello to anything with a heartbeat.

Introducing Ms. CeCe and Ms. Daphne, the Cane Corso/Giant Schnauzer sisters. Prior to their arrival at Ridgeside K9 Charlottesville, their family reported an increasingly complex behavioral challenge. The dogs were exhibiting reactive behaviors that had become progressively more frequent and intense within the home environment.

While both were described as affectionate and playful, their behavior would shift significantly in the presence of high-value resources — including specific household members. In those instances, CeCe and Daphne would become confrontational, asserting themselves regardless of who was present. Given the complexity of the behavior and the dogs’ substantial size as they matured, it became critical to implement structure, define clear boundaries, and establish consistent control within the home to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved.

For CeCe and Daphne, we focused on slowing things down, establishing/maintaining boundaries, and growing confidence to help the pair excel. We were so pleased with their growth during their time with us!
