Fox Positive for RABIES.

We had a Fox attack our cats on our patio noon on Sunday while we were on the deck above. Fox was not scared and very aggressive. It did run off when my son threw chairs etc at it. Our cats were up to date on rabies vaccines and went in for additional boosters and are in Quarantine. A different fox was dead in our front yard Monday morning. Animal control sent it for testing and the health department notified us today it was positive for rabies.
We have noted a fox “family” coming through our yard daily over the last few weeks but since the attack on Sunday (the largest of the family) and the dead one on Monday ( possibly the mate) we have not seen the others.
Just a safety reminder as this is not something we were really thinking about in our area. Keep your pets up to date on their vaccines and be careful yourselves. Our son has had to do the rabies PEP due to exposure to our cats immediately following the attack.

Thank you to all the kind-hearted individuals who see the worth in all creatures (I have to say I'm really pushing it with mosquitoes), for those that give their time, energy, and/or funds to care for them, for those that speak for them. You make our world a better place. I know all my coworkers do this and more.
