I have been nothing short of amazed by this boy during his time with me. I asked him for so much and he just says, “okay! let’s do it!” He’s been fox hunting, had lots of trail miles, flatwork in the ring, jumping, etc. He’s game for it all. He’s brave and smart and although he loves to trail ride he would excel at anything asked of him. I ride him ba****ck on the trails with a halter and leadline. He rides alone or with groups, front, back, wherever. He’s not a “hot horse” but will move out when asked. He rides on loose rein or will collect and frame up nicely too. As a one owner horse since birth, he’s been started right and just loves people. Asking Thirteen five and he’s worth every penny. 100% sound, no vices (610)529-1282

‘Itachi’ after 5 wks of training (see prior posts for weekly updates and Day 1 of training)

This horse was by far one of the most challenging horses I’ve had in for training. I’m so proud of his progress in such a short time! He overcame so, so many fears and really blossomed into a trusting, solid horse. It took me three weeks to be confident enough in him to even ride him outside of the round pen. Since that, he’s been across bridges, through creeks, out by himself and with a group of horses. He’s overcome a fear of plastic bags, tarps, balloons, fly spray, a saddle, someone being on his back, etc. His owner, Jessica Weiser, came and rode him out with other horses and by herself on the trails and did great. Wish you both the best, he’s a great horse!

‘Mulligan’ a draft cross gelding is with me for training. He wheeled and threatened to kick me quite a few times and was hard to catch when I went to pick him up. He’s distrusting of humans and his aggression seems to be his way of keeping humans at bay. We are working on trust and respect. He was passed around until recently bought by a caring owner who wants to see a happy, content horse. He’s worth it.

A far cry from trying to wheel and kick me when I went to pick him up for training. This horse is very untrusting of humans, we are working on that

This is the QH mare that was with me for training...I figured out fairly quickly that this mare was impeccably trained and responded like a Ferrari to leg cues. Here lies the root of the problem from her owner. He was using entirely too much gas pedal and she was just responding, as she was trained to do. Not many horses move so well off of just a tiny bit of calf pressure and he just wasn’t used to it. My job is to translate the conversations you’re having with your horse. They are always talking, it’s up to us to listen. I try to train the owners as much as I do the horses, it’s the only way to have a successful, understanding, and open line of communication with these amazing creatures!

This pretty little mare is with me for some refinement training. She doesn’t like to cross water first, steers like a “dump truck” at times, and is buddy sour. She’s used for gaming and trail riding. Today is evaluation and training day 1. Stayed tuned for before and after video.

This gorgeous guy is with me for one week of training. We are working on parking out, standing while mounting and ground tying. Baby steps and patience is key!

When it comes to shoeing horses I always say, if you’re comfortable, the horse probably isn’t. It’s very important when picking up their feet, especially the hinds, that we do it slowly and get in a squat position in such a way that we keep their leg underneath of them. Pulling their leg out too far, or up too high, puts them off balance and is obviously uncomfortable. Also, it’s a good leg workout 😉 In this video you can see the horse is balanced on his other three legs comfortably.

This horse came to me super untrusting of humans. He would flinch every time you raised your hands near his face and would cower when approached. I will be posting a video of his training along the way, he’s only with me for a week but we’ve come a long way already. Had a little fun with him yesterday
