Pet Diabetes Awareness 🐾🩺

Did you know? November is Pet Diabetes Awareness Month! Here are some important facts to keep your furry friends healthy:

🔹 Diabetes in pets is more common than you think, affecting 1 in every 300 dogs and 1 in every 230 cats.
🔹 Symptoms to watch for: increased thirst, frequent urination, weight loss despite a good appetite, and lethargy.
🔹 Early detection is key! With proper management, including insulin therapy, a healthy diet, and regular vet visits, diabetic pets can lead happy lives.
🔹 Pets are more likely to develop diabetes if they’re overweight, older, or have a genetic predisposition.

If you notice any of these signs, schedule a check-up with your vet right away!

One of our favorite things about animals is how little they notice differences, both in themselves and in others. Calypso and Plastic don't care that they've lost an eye each, and neither do other pets they come in contact with. Their differences haven't stopped either of them from being loving, friendly or playful, and other animals hold no prejudice over them for looking different. Calypso only cares about who's going to rub her belly, and Plastic just wants to know when dinner is (us too, Plastic. Us too)

No, Bruno is NOT at a rave, he's just getting a fluorescein eye stain test from our techs! The stain is applied to the eye (turning it a bright green color) and assessed under a UV light, which helps us catch unusual textures or debris that may be bothering the pet. It also comes with the added bonus of making the patient look super duper cool 😎
