Dr. Yates has been working hard training our staff in the handling and care of fuzzy friends other than dogs and cats! Moving forward, MetroVet will be opening appointments to small mammals, birds and reptiles. We had some VERY special guests visit us yesterday to teach our technicians about the proper handling of small mammals. It was a ton of fun learning how to care for our smallest furry friends, and we can't wait to help the ferrets of Chicago stay happy and healthy 🥰.

You may remember a little while ago that we posted about a scraggly little dog who had been left at our clinic. Today he got his first groom in what must have been a LONG time; when we first met him, he was covered in skin-tight mats, some the size of golf balls. Luckily the pros at Sydnee's Pet Grooming cleaned him up beautifully and now he's smelling fresh and feeling much more comfortable. While we haven't heard form any potential owners, He's been hanging out with us for a few days now and has several potential fur-ever homes in the works! Tentatively named Chacho to those of us at MetroVet, this little fellow seems to capture the hearts of all who meet him. While there are some prospective adopters, please feel free to reach out to us if you have interest in the sweet guy!

When Mango came to see us for urinary issues, Dr. Yates had to get up close and personal to ensure he wasn't blocked. Luckily she was able to sedate him and flush out his bladder before a blockage had fully formed! Male cats can be prone to blockages caused by urinary stones, and this condition can quickly escalate, leading to the need for surgical intervention. There are many factors that can contribute to this, so it's important to monitor your cat's bathroom habits before the condition escalates. Be on the lookout for frequent litter box visits, straining to urinate and/or difficulty producing urine. Give us a call at 312-583-1921 if your feline friend has any of these symptoms ❤️. Please enjoy the many faces of Spartacus, who had a couple lumps and bumps removed and is still a little loopy after sedation. Much like us, our pets usually come out of sedated procedures feeling sillier than usual 🤡. Once he sobers up, Spartacus will be back to his normal self!
