CW: Intubated/anesthetized animal
Several weeks ago, Lola came to see us after her parents noticed her limping and appearing very painful on one of her front legs. After some x-rays and a slightly unconventional initial exam (sweet girl was afraid to be out of her kennel!) Dr. Czapor found that Lola had dislocated her elbow playing with a housemate. Once we had a diagnosis, Lola was placed under anesthesia and her arm was manually stretched to tire out the ligament and let the doctors get to the joint. Most of the staff took turns doing this; our arms kept getting tired before Lola's! Dr. Czapor and Natarajan worked together with their team of fabulous technicians and were able to get Lola's elbow back in place. A splint was placed along with several layers of wrap to ensure the elbow healed properly. After all of that plus several rechecks, we are thrilled to announce that Lola was out of her splint just before the holidays!
