Part of breeding responsibly is completing breed-relevant health testing.

When researching breeders, use OFA to (1) assess what health tests may be relevant to a breed and (2) verify that breeders you’re interested in are doing their part to produce healthy dogs!

We proudly health test, report the results publicly, and have participated in the OFA CHIC program since Pugs first became a participating breed!

A wonderful insight to some of the nuances within our breed’s AKC standard!

The Pug, often called the Pug Dog, is an ancient breed that can be traced back some 2,000 years. The emperors of ancient China had a preference for flat-faced toy dogs—the Pekingese, Shih Tzu, and Pug were all developed as refined pets of the emperor, his family, and members of the imperial court. Like many breeds favored by Far Eastern potentates of the ancient world, Pugs were a closely held treasure that outsiders could acquire only as a gift. 🐾

Responsible Pug breeders adhere to the breed standard in addition to taking health and welfare into consideration.

Purebred Pugs come in varying shades of fawn or black and always with a black “mask”. Don’t be fooled into purchasing a fad color under the guise that it is rare. It’s not; it is a mixed breed that you’re being sold at an inflated price.

Amos (Orlando x Lily) has his eyes examined annually by a board-certified ophthalmologist, and for the fifth consecutive year, he was evaluated as having normal eyes with no breeder options!
