🌡️ Hot Weather Dog Walking Tips from Trisha’s Dog Walking
As the hotter weather approaches, it’s important to keep your dog’s safety in mind—especially their sensitive paws! ☀️🐾
🔥 Pavement Tip:
On hot days, asphalt can reach over 140°F even if the air feels comfortable. If you can’t hold your hand on the pavement for 5-10 seconds, it’s too hot to walk your dog.
➡️ When in doubt, opt for grassy routes or playtime in the backyard to stay cool and safe!
‼️🚨 Watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling or thick saliva
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Weakness or collapse
• Bright red gums or tongue
💧 If You Suspect Heat Stroke:
• Move your dog to a cool, shaded area
• Apply cool (not ice-cold) water to their neck, belly, and paws
‼️If your pup shows any of these symptoms, move them to a cool area, offer water, and call your vet immediately.‼️
Let’s keep our furry friends safe, happy, and hydrated this summer! 💦🐕
