Whiskers & Tails Rescue Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to reducing the suffering and overpopulation of feral and stray free roaming community cats through practicing Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). We also practice Trap-Neuter-Adopt (TNA) to any adoptable cat. We believe, as a community, it is our obligation to come together and be the difference in community cats’ lives

Sweet Lilee has been through so much, but she’s still brimming with love. Her past adopters didn’t do right by her, and she’s never known stability.

Lilee thrives on companionship. She loves chatting with her adorable chirps, curling up for snuggles, and spending time with her people. She’s a dream for homebodies and does well with other kind, laid-back cats (no dominant personalities, please!). Seriously, she is amazing. She will be your warmest blanket on a cold air's day and she will be your best comfort on a hard day's end.

As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on an incredible year filled with hope, challenges, and triumphs, all made possible by your support. Together, we have achieved so much for the cats who needed us most.

This year, we saved countless lives. From the feral cats who found warmth and care under our vigilant watch to the new ones who joined our program, we gave them the safety and compassion they deserve. Many cats who once faced an uncertain future on the streets have now found their forever homes, where they are cherished and loved. They no longer live in fear but in comfort and security, a future we created together.

We are profoundly grateful for conquering 2024 with you by our side. Your generosity and belief in our mission have fueled our work and inspired us to do even more. As we look ahead to 2025, we are filled with excitement and hope, knowing you will continue this journey with us.

And now, we’re thrilled to share the perfect way to end this year with a bang! Our beloved Rumi, now lovingly called Mr. Nice Guy, has found his forever home! Rumi’s journey was not an easy one. Dumped by his prior owners on the streets, he faced overwhelming odds, and all of his wounds and trauma showed it. But because of your support, we were able to take him in, heal him, and give him the second chance he so desperately needed. Today, Rumi’s future is bright, filled with love and joy. His new family, including his mom, dad, and his feline sister Marmalade, is creating beautiful new memories and adventures with him.

Rumi’s story is a testament to what we can achieve together. Without you, his rescue and transformation wouldn’t have been possible. Your kindness changed his life and gave him the happy ending he deserved.

All of our adorable cats and kittens are purring with excitement as they get ready for Santa Paws. Their stockings are hung with care, and they’ve made sure to set out cookies and milk... although we’re crossing our paws that none of them sneak a sip of that milk before Santa arrives! They all have been such good kitties this year, even if they were naughty at times! Show us pictures of your cats in the comments and tell us if they are on the Naughty or Nice list! We'll start... WE ARE LOOKING FOR FOSTER HOMES.

We’ve posted, we’ve shared, and we’ve asked multiple times, but somehow, our pleas for foster home help just aren’t reaching enough people.

We REALLY want to save lives. But we can’t do it without you. Fostering is the bridge between a life in danger and a life filled with love and safety and right now there is a long list of cats and kittens who need our help.

For your peace of mind, all of our cats and kittens are fully vetted before coming into your care unless they are kittens under the age of 3months. You'll have a foster mentor and you’ll never feel alone in this journey. Our rescue is hands-on, and we’ll be with you every step of the way. From guidance and support to local vet care, we make sure fostering with us is as smooth as possible.

We would love to say "Yes" to at least 5 precious cat lives that are waiting for a chance to start their new journey, but we need you, to say “YES” first.

We really want to start the new year off with hope, love, and second chances for these poor cats. Please fill out our Foster Interest Form today and help us make 2025 a year of lifesaving magic!

Look at these absolutely beautiful photos of an American Bald Eagle that a member of our community in Humboldt Park took right here in Chicago this morning. While beautiful and majestic these pictures are, it's also a reminder to all pet parents to please keep your cats indoors so it doesn't fall prey to other wildlife.

As responsible pet parents, it’s our duty to ensure the safety and well-being of our beloved cats. The outdoors can be a dangerous place, where they may become prey to wildlife such as eagles, coyotes, and other predators, or face risks like cars and exposure to disease. By keeping your cats indoors, you are giving them the best chance at a long, happy, and healthy life. There’s no place safer than the warmth and security of your home. Let’s show our love and commitment by keeping them safe and sound, because their safety is in our hands.

The weather might still feel nice, but don’t let it fool you, winter is here, and freezing temperatures, snow, and icy winds are just around the corner. For outdoor cats like Peanut Butter, this time of year is dangerous. Every year, countless cats suffer from frostbite, freeze to death, or get severely injured trying to stay warm in car engines.

You can save lives by putting out a feral cat house NOW. It’s simple to make, inexpensive, and life-changing for feral cats and lost cats & kittens who have nowhere else to turn. These shelters provide warmth and safety during the brutal winter months and they can easily be removed in the spring.

Please have a heart. Take action. Their lives depend on you.

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came out to support us at all of our events this past weekend and to our partners Pet Supplies Plus! It was a whirlwind of fun, and while we were so busy we didn’t get a chance to snap many photos, we can tell you the cats had an absolute blast meeting so many wonderful people, especially Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Grinch!

Sasha particularly loved chatting with Mrs. Claus about their shared fabulous taste in fashion. The families, pets, and all of you who joined us for photos and our Home for the Holidays adoption event truly made this weekend unforgettable.

Attached are just a couple of the photos taken during the fun. Thank you again for your amazing support and for helping us make this season extra special for the cats.

Do you make special meals for your pets? Persi is on a strict venison diet for his IBD. He gets venison canned cat food and I make him homemade venison baby food to help with his pills. Venison baby food doesn’t exist in stores, so here’s my DIY version! Recipe: I cook ground venison halfway, add water to get those natural juices, then blend it all together to a smooth texture.
