For any of my friends/family/clients that may be considering a new pet for your home, please read this article and do some research before getting it. As someone who has made the mistake of getting a pet before researching (live and learn, right?), don’t make the same mistake. I have also taken in a couple of dogs because the previous owner didn’t do enough research into the breed. Researching is easily accessible thanks to the internet.

Meet my dog Phoebe aka Dorkfish, aka Beebers…she is probably the most annoying dogs you could ever meet. Unfortunately, I love the little turd so I’m keeping her forever. Haha. My oldest daughter has claimed her and they are 2 peas in a pod (although, my daughter is way less annoy). Phoebe came to us at about 6 mos old in 2019 after a family member was fostering her. I had recently lost my “soul dog” and wanted a corgi again to make my life loud again. Haha. She drives me absolutely nuts, but I don’t know what I would do without her loudmouth. She is a wonderful companion for my oldest daughter and curls up to her often. On the rare occasion that she isn’t running like a wild dog through the house, she’s actually a great cuddle buddy.

Kanji is the next one up in the introductory posts. Our KK girl came to live with us in 2014 after her owner dropped her off for boarding at a clinic I worked at and was unable to return for her. She was only supposed to be with us for a little while, but she never left. She has been a thorn in my side but she’s also be a wonderful companion. She has cuddled away several tears for us and the kids. She’s also the only dog any of the cats will cuddle with, which is weird since she’s kinda crazy. She is a “little” old lady now but still loves to go on walks and play fetch.

Let me get back to introducing my animals. This beautiful old man is Izzy. My husband, David, and I got him from David’s dad back in 2014. He is a beautiful double merle mini australian shepherd. He’s roughly 13 years old, deaf, partially blind, and while he has had a decline in health, he still gets the energy to bark at the passersby on his favorite perch (I gave up painting that windowsill and can’t keep that window clean), roughhousing with his housemates, and going on short walks. We actually call him our cat dog because he just likes to cuddle on his own terms, loves his perch, and will try to make himself fit things he’s too big for just because “he can.” I recently found out he doesn’t like whipped cream when he refused a pupcup at a drink shop in Norman. He’s brought us so much love and joy over the years and I hold tight to the time I still have with him.

This handsome boy is my cover photo for a very obvious reason…HE’S GORGEOUS! This is one of my other cats, Sermon. He showed up as a little kitten on my porch with his brother in June or July of 2018. “I was NOT getting another cat” so he stayed outside and his brother disappeared. When that happened, I knew I couldn’t lose him. He was just too sweet (his brother was very fear aggressive). He came inside and made himself a big spot in our life. He is still so sweet and enjoys having his belly scratched, laying in bed with the kids, and cuddling.

I figured y’all would enjoy seeing my personal pets. No one better than the one that is currently making it difficult for me to study physiology, right? 😜 This is Edison. Edison was born at my current job on July 16th (funny enough, also my oldest daughter’s birthday). One of my coworkers bottle fed him and his siblings and every one of them went home with someone that works/worked at the clinic. I was holding him on a Saturday before appointments showed up and texted a picture of him to my husband. David replayed with, “when does he come home?” Surprised me greatly! I didn’t really want or need another animal, but I was so excited! He has become my little shadow. He sleeps with me, he greets me when I come home. He has become my little buddy. I’m so grateful for this ornery little dude! The last picture was the day I brought him home and that is the way he still (tries) the sit on me all day.
