We remain one of the few family-owned malting companies in the world. Founded by Ignatius Briess in his homeland of Moravia, Czechoslovakia in 1876, Briess Malt & Ingredients Co. is today a leading North American manufacturer of specialty malts for the American Craft Brewing Industry, and innovative producer of value-added ingredients for food, beverage and pet food manufacturers. In 2010 the company was named the Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year-Medium Size Company, and this yearreceived three "Patriotic Employer" awards from the US Department of Defense. Briess Industries, Inc. respects the environment and makes a conscious effort to minimize its environmental impact associated with operations. Our ''Green With Briess' sustainability program is an ongoing initiative to continuously seek improvements and foster partnerships that make more efficient use of natural resources to reduce pollution, emissions and waste. In 2012 Briess became a member of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources' Green Tier Program, and has received two awards since 2008 for its sustainability achievements.
