Meet Donovan Clouse 🥰❤️
The 3rd member of the Clouse Clan as I have dubbed them 😅
These 3 are normally groomed by Denise. However she is snowed in at the moment & I got to spend all day with them. ❄️⛄️ Don’t worry, she’s safe 😊.
Denise informed me that Donovan wasn’t very confident on the table and that she had been working with him to help boost his confidence.
Well, I’d say she’s been doing a great job! I was fortunate enough to capture the image of Donovan walking out of the tub and onto the table all by himself. He then proceeded to stand all the way up with a confidently wagging tail! 🤩🥳
A pets grooming isn’t just about soap & water. It’s a part of their training. It’s a part of their life experiences.
Pets who are regularly groomed and on a schedule learn the ins & outs of the grooming process. They become familiar with the movements required and the noises associated with the grooming process.
They become familiar with their handlers (groomers) and trust and a bond is formed.
Great job Denise on showing Donovan how to be a great groom dog and teaching him the confidence he deserves! It was amazing being able to witness the fruits of your patience and professionalism for this newest addition to the Clouse Clan. 🫶🏼🙏🏻👌🏼🎉💪🏼❤️🐶🐾.

Niko received his first grooming from me yesterday! 😍🥰🐶🐾
I went to visit Niko a week ago to first clip his nails because he was tormenting his owners 😅. During this introduction I could tell right away Niko was a very cautious little guy for such a young puppy.
My observations were only affirmed when I returned for his grooming yesterday. Niko was not going to be one of those puppies where grooming came naturally. His grooming was going to need to be taught and completed at his pace and in steps.
Luckily! Mom has been doing an AMAZING 🤩 job at keep him bathed, brushed and combed out! When I arrived he was so clean I simply brushed him out and his hairperfect. I decided we weren’t going to do the whole process as this little pup was very cautious, nervous and timid about any little thing.
I realized that the bath, blow dry, brush out and haircut would be way too much for him. We simply did a “dry cut.”
I hand scissored him. A technique that takes a ton of skills as a groomer, it is almost silent as far as equipment making noise and takes much longer. But it’s exactly what this little guy needed.
I did however turn other equipment items on while grooming him. This included the water so he would get used to the sound of the water pumps running. I turned on the dryer so he would become familiar with that noise and I turned on my clippers letting him hear the sound of the vibrations and smell them to become familiar.
With puppies it about curiosity. It’s about making grooming fun. It’s about patience. It crucial to set them up right for a lifetime of grooming.
I started the groom with his feet working my way up to the head. From the beginning I could tell he was a little head shy so I worked from the bottom up allowing him to get comfortable with the groom and so he could predict my movements.
He did amazingly! He came around and started building trust. He started to open up and give me kisses. I can’t wait to build a bond with this little guy! He’s adorable AF! Good job little man!

Meet Piper 🥰🐶🐾💜
Piper is a with a big personality! She’s very timid and shy when it comes to men & our first encounter she nailed my finger lol.
It was my fault even though I did take the necessary precautions. I had mom pick her up and turn her to me b***y end first. The approach was too fast and she turned right around and nailed me! She also very territorial with mom and her home.
We recognized the behavior and changed our approach and now have the routine down to the science. Mom explains the grooming to me while holding Piper, I slip the lead over her head & mom puts Piper on the floor and closes the door.
Piper’s behavior instantly changes and she walks to the trailer with me, jumps in and hops on the table all on her own. We’re on her terms! 😅
She then lets me groom her with no problems. Because she’s very territorial over her mom and household it is better for mom to place her on the floor and step away. This signals to Piper that control has been handed over to me.
She is still very timid and shakes for most of her groom. She’s not a pet I give much attention to meaning I don’t baby talk her and try to make her like grooming. She’s not that kind of pet. She much rather prefers me to move through the grooming methodically and patiently but also she’s more the “Just do it and be done with it” kind of pet. Baby taking her, getting in her face and giving her extra attention stresses her out more.
Some pets have high anxiety just like humans & grooming may never be something she looks forward to. However, she’s trusting land tolerant of her pamper time. She’s safe, loved & has a ton of undercoat for such a little pup 😅.

Meet Coco 🥰💜
Coco came to us years ago terrified of grooming. We didn’t know how great we did with her til we showed up to her second grooming.
Mom & Dad said “That was the first time she came out of a grooming and didn’t cower in a corner for 3 days. She came in the house lively, full of energy, tail wagging and sociable.”
It’s in those moments that we are so proud of what we do an humbled by the respect bestowed upon us by our clients.
With all that being said we’ll probably never be able to change the way Coco feels about grooming. She is still very timid & her FULL trust in other is broken. She still tries with all her might to roll up into a little ball on the table. However, she trusts us enough to allow us to work on her now without biting us & she goes inside with a wagging tail and pride when showing off her grooming to Mom & Dad.
Way to go Coco! We love you even though you may never fully like us 😅🥰.

Sometimes life happens. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Sometimes an appointment is canceled. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Sometimes you take your pet elsewhere. 🙅🏻‍♂️
Life’s about taking risks. 🎲
Some risks aren’t worth taking. 😬
Some things are well worth the wait. 🫠
Sometimes it is about a perfect haircut! 🪄

Meet Midnight 🖤🐶🎀
I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since Midnight came to us! It seems like it was yesterday!
Midnight began to have seizures at her regular groomer. Most likely due to the hustle and bustle of the shops grooming environment. As pets age they can go through a period of difficulty with the noise of the dryers as well. Sometimes elderly pets don’t have to be the ones being dried to have a seizure. They can simply hear another pet within their vicinity being dried that can cause seizures.
Since we’ve taken over her grooming Midnight has been seizure free! 🤩🥳
Mom also loves how cute she looks after her groomings! 😊🥰🙏🏻
We take every precaution for Midnights grooming. We give her a 2- 2 1/2 hour time slot so that we don’t need to rush the grooming process. We use only a small handheld dryer (that takes longer) but is quieter and much more tolerable and comfortable for Midnight. We place cotton balls in her ears as well as a happy hoodie over her head to drown out the noise of the dryer. We move slow and methodically so she can predict our movements and isn’t startled by us.
It’s situations like Midnights that give us the most joy 🥹.
Thank you for trusting us with your baby girl 🙏🏻🎉

Meet Bo 💙🐶🪄
Bo’s one of those little guys that you just want to til he pops but of course that’s frowned upon. So instead we go above & beyond for his special spa day. We give him multiple baths, conditioning treatments, facials, love, comfort, safety & so much more. 🥰🥳🙌🏻
In return he gives us trust, affection and continued love for our work. However, Bo’s not special…. I mean he IS but he’s not. 🤔
ALL of our clients receive this kind of treatment from our highly trained professional staff. YOUR baby is special too!
Every once in a while we get that special someone asking, “How much for a basic bath?”
Red flag 🚩 #1 & we’re probably not the groomers for you. There’s nothing basic about a professional groom. Sure, there may be a cheaper less quality service but even then there’s nothing basic about grooming a living creature in your care. Even when it comes to a chihuahua bath.
It takes years of patience, education, dedication, skills, techniques, tenacity, respect, diligence and so much more. Yes, others don’t go the extra mile but we do.
We vet ALL of our high end products; shampoos, conditioners, colognes, sprays etc to disclose their ingredients lists and make sure they don’t use outside co-packers that use cheaper toxic ingredients.
We use multiple products on pets to remove, add and replace healthy skin & coat function.
We strictly groom 4-5 pets a day to ensure quality, safety, energetic employees and a special spa day tailored to each pets specific needs.
AND SO MUCH MORE
We thank all of our clients (both human and four legged) for trusting us, supporting us and respecting our professionalism.
Don’t be a red flag 🚩

Meet Teddy & Cooper 💙💛
These guys have been with us since our days of (in-home) grooming before we went mobile. Unfortunately we lost Cooper last month due to old age 😭🌈🐶. Teddy is another one of our clients who needs a lot of patience and geriatric care. He’s always got lots of eye boogies that get stuck to his face.
In his old age he does not let mom and dad remove them with much ease. Luckily we know some of the best tricks in the book to make this process much much easier and more tolerable for this little old man. The trick is to NOT soak them in shampoo. A common mistake amongst owners & groomers alike.
Instead soak the crusted areas in…….CONDITIONER first. Letting crusties soak in conditioner first will not only soften them better than shampoo but they’ll also lubricate the surrounding coat making removal a breeze.
Mom asked how he was fearful of his extra moodiness lately. He did AMAZING. Not even a snarl. He even laid down and rested some of the groom. And once again….falling asleep by the end for his photo shoot.

Meet Kelly 🥰
Kelly came to us 4 years ago with some health concerns. She too has a bad back and a spine that does not fully support her. In the past few years her health has taken many turns and she now needs fluids from an IV bag twice a week that her dad administers at home. Sometimes Kelly needs to cancel her appointments because she doesn’t feel well enough for her grooming and she trades her grooming appointment with her cousin Trixie who lives down the street.
Kelly’s grooming is no longer about a perfect finish. Her grooming is more about geriatric care, comfort and helping her to look better than she did. We always choose comfort over style. We always choose humanity over vanity. In a pets older years it’s about safety and making your pet as comfortable as possible and choosing cleanliness over style. Kelly may not get a perfect finish but she still receives the amount of care, love and peace of mind from her groom. As she too falls asleep towards the end. 💤🧘🏻‍♂️💆🏼‍♀️🐶

✨(Post continued….)✨
Rusty the (16) year old golden is my buddy & pal. He’s one of my I’ve been grooming Rusty for the last 15 years. His family has become my own. We’ve all been through a lot together and it sometimes makes me sad to see him in his old age. I am grateful for every visit and cherish him always. Unlike most Golden’s Rusty would stand for me the entire groom but now in his old age I have to encourage him to sit. He’s so stubborn and try’s to stand the whole time still! But I can feel his stiff joints and know he just wants to please me. He still try’s to jump in the trailer the crazy old guy. He too gets special monthly shots for his old joints. To help him stay balanced while working on his legs I have a belly strap that hoists his backside in the air allowing him to be supported without adding pressure to his old joints. He is now completely deaf and can handle a high velocity dryer with some cotton balls in the ears and a happy hoodie.
He hasn’t been taking the best photos for me the last few years because he doesn’t really focus on me anymore but yesterday he blessed me with some great captures. 🦮🐾🐶❤️
Thank you to all of our clients who support us and trust us with your elderly fury family. It means the world to us to be apart of their day and help them look and feel their freshest by providing them with safe, calm and highly skilled grooming practices.

02/11/2023

Yesterday I groomed 3 of my eldest clients. Grooming an elderly pet takes a tremendous amount of skill, patience and care. Elderly pets come with an array of medical concerns making their grooming process more difficult, time consuming but also very special ✨👵🏻🐶👴🏻
Molly (13) has degenerative spine disease which has caused her lower spine to weaken over time making it difficult for her back legs to keep her stable. She gets weekly injections to help her lower spine support her back legs. She is still mobile and can still walk around but standing for long periods of time can be a challenge. She’s also very fearful of the dryer and quite frankly has never liked the grooming process. For Molly’s special groom we first strip off her coat before the bath. This allows Molly to dry fast lessening her exposure to the dryer. We also use a small hand held dryer that she is much more tolerant of. While we clip her hair whether it’s before the bath or after we always clip her back side first. Grooming her this way allows us to support her backside, get it clipped and she can sit or lay down the remainder of the groom in order to not exhaust her.👌🏻🦾✂️
Sassy (13) has had many health concerns the last few months from a heart murmur, problems with her spleen and other major organs. She too like most elderly pets has a difficult time with the high velocity dryers so we use a small handheld dryer to avoid causing a dryer seizure. Her grooming process is very slow, gentle and comforting as she is a fragile little pup. She usually has tons of impacted coat so a pre-clip isn’t an option. After her shampoo we use a deep cream conditioner to help release her thick double coat with ease as we gently brush it out. We then clip down her body starting with the backside so she too can sit or lay down the remainder of her grooming.
✨(See next post continued……)✨
