taff present to facilitate safe play and happy pups. We are Juliana and Alex and we run Dirt Road Campers, building and selling custom campervans for every adventure. We, along with our three dogs - Sadie, Willow and Raven have cultivated a fun, exciting life dedicated to making awesome memories centering our pack of pups. We have traveled across the country, backpacked through Utah, swam in the ocean and paddle boarded in every body of water available with our pups. But we know sometimes you can't take them along and when that happens we hope to provide a safe and exciting place for them. A place we, self-identified crazy dog lovers, would feel comfortable leaving our best friends. Our vision is to open a large multi acre dog boarding and daycare facility focused on daily pack walks, swimming in ponds, focused play groups and generally letting dogs interact and run through nature in enclosed, safe ways. While we take steps to build that one of a kind facility for the OKC metro area come tour our mini-scale version we have on our property, meet the girls and see if we are the right home away from home for your dog. Do you believe in reincarnation?
I've been tossing that question around for weeks. Every time I catch Winnie sleeping deeply in a particularly lovely sunbeam I think about her. Every time she howls mercilessly in her crate till she is reluctantly let out only to curl up on the sofa content and at peace I see her.
Winnie came to us so suddenly it felt like fate. I remember seeing her exhausted trot down the already too hot street, stopping my car and getting out wondering if she would come to me only for her to swish her tail and trot faster, immediately burying her head into my chest like she had been looking for me for a very long time.
Her quiet solid presence has brought echoes of pain that have long laid dormant. Charlie has been at peace for 4 years. This isn't Charlie. I have told myself this more times than I can embarrassingly admit. But something about her stoic presence brings back memories of her. Before any other dog, there was Charlie & me. Learning how to be adults, how to deal with aggression and reactivity, how to kennel train a dog who refuses to be caged. Charlie taught me the depths of love and pain and joy and frustration that is dog ownership.
I don't know if I believe in reincarnation but I know I see Charlie in her. Maybe she sent her to remind me to slow down. As I watch her asleep on my couch where she has been the last 4 hours straight, exactly where Charlie would have been, maybe I'll choose to believe that today.
Little dogs can do big things!! Don't let the size of your camper stop you from helping them advance to an adventurer! Biscuit here may have little legs but his shirt is BIG and he tackled his hike like an absolute champ. He had an absolute blast running around with his adventure pals today. We love that his owners trusted us to help this little adventurous guy get to experience spending an afternoon climbing hills, splashing in the pond and sniffing every tree and bush till he was ready to snooze. We know he is going to have an amazing night's sleep tonight after his fun filled day.

Let them run the lure course or chase a flirt pole. Have a bite fiend? Learn how to teach them to bite + tug safely. Have a nose forward dog? Practice scent trailing and hide & seek games.

Give your camper the ultimate experience and upgrade their daycare or boarding day to an Adventure Day!! Our trainer Juliana will take your lucky camper in the DRD van out to our 9 acres of dog friendly land for an ultimate off leash** experience. They will get to hike, dig, swim, run the lure course and explore for hours at our DRD Harrah location while under the close guidance and supervision of our trainer Juliana. Your dog will get 2+ hours of off campus fun & exercise before heading back to camp for a nap before joing the evening playgroup session. Each Adventurer will get a post hike pup cup, complimentary bath & wipe down and an evening frozen Kong in their dinner bowl to round out their day full of mind, body enrichment fun.
Juliana is an experienced group hiker and leader to facilitate an experience that is maximum fun while also being safe for everyone. For our reactive or lone wolves who don't enjoy the camaraderie of other dogs getting off campus to run, play and be a dog without other triggers around will help settle any camp jitters or kennel anxieties.

FAQs
Can I bring any dog with my guest pass?
Yes you can bring any dog that has been cleared to come to camp under your memberships' guest pass. All dogs must be in our system with current vaccinations and an active temperament test.
Do I get double the perks if I add an additional camper?
Heck yeah! If you add an additional camper membership you get all the perks of that level of membership x 2. That means if you add an additional membership to your Top Dog Elite you can bring 4 DRD approved dogs to camp for free each visit!! Adding an additional membership is perfect for our multi dog homes.
Can I skip a month if I am traveling / sick / cutting back on spending that month?
Yes! Send us a "SKIP" message before 17:00 on the 5th of the month and your membership will be skipped for that month. You cannot use your perks and any visits will be paid for at full price. Billing will be automatic on the 6th to the card on file. Please ensure your card is up to date and current!
Can I bank my perks?
Unfortunately no. Perks like the monthly guest pass in the Classic Camper or the Exit Bath in the Dog Pack do not rollover. Each month you reset to 1.

When we brought Winnie in to be checked out by our vet we were told that she may or may not be fixed. We could not see a spay line but her anatomy is small which could mean she was a pediatric spay. We were advised we wait to see if she comes into heat or attempt to fix her. If anyone knows of an alternative way to find out if a female dog is fixed or not or has a suggestion please let us know! We do not want to put her through unnecessary surgery but also do not want to wait 6-12 months before helping her find a perfect family which she is SO READY FOR.

Everyone please welcome Dhara to the DRD training fam! Dhara is both well known and well loved here at camp already. She is exceptionally intelligent and had completed basic & advanced obedience but her owner was struggling to make progress with her history of dog reactivity. Dhara has had some past run-ins with off leash dogs that have shaped her into a dog who is more wary and defensive when meeting new dogs. We are going to break down some of that past history, see if we can shape some new associations with the balanced pack of the DRD girls to hopefully allow Dhara to get to a more neutral place. 🤝
Setting realistic goals and meeting our dogs where they are at is crucial when choosing who helps you train your dog. There are no quick fixes or guarantees and most of the training & adjusting is done on the human 👤side. A good trainer will tell you where you need to shift your mindset, adjust your lifestyle to meet your dog's needs, understand their limitations and encourage and support you along your path. We are the human trainer 🫵🏼 you are the dog trainer 😉

We can't believe summer break is almost over already! We have had NON-STOP fun this year with a ton of new faces and camp classics here this summer. This sweet little gremlin has been a DRD staple for the last 8 months after we found him half frozen and starving back in January. Since coming to camp he has charmed everyone with his fondness for mud puddles, destroying toys and the contact sport that is his love language expression. We were constantly laughing at his antics. Mo does nothing that isn't at 1000%. He had two new little brothers who will have fun wrestling, playing ball and tug with him all day long now. Happy gotcha day Mo. We will miss you around camp 🐾🖤

We are SO GRATEFUL to have this one less thing weighing down on us. Knowing that we can not only treat and cure her heartworms but afford the continued protection against re-infection for several months is such a weight off. Have 2 medical rescues we are paying for out of pocket at once is not something we envisioned on our 2024 bingo card but this is why we do it. We may never save them all but for dogs like Winnie & Grace, it's everything.
Please continue to share Winnie and Grace's story. We are leaving the GFM up and running and every single dollar is going directly into rehabilitating, caring and training our rescues. While Grace is going to be here a while, we are seeing amazing strides in Winnie and hope she will be ready to start searching for her perfect forever family soon.

Many of you have heard about Grace's story. For those who have followed since the first time she lived with us you know how absolutely sweet and loving this little girl is. Unfortunately rescue work often breaks your heart more times than you can imagine. In over 10 years of rescuing hundreds of dogs we unfortunately received a call on July 17 2024 that our girl Grace who was adopted out a year prior was recovered in an animal cruelty case with several other dogs.
We are forever grateful for the tireless volunteers, AOC and police who helped us reunite with our girl who was now living over 2 hours away. Unfortunately still, Grace is now heartworm positive. The rescue that we had previously worked with that Grace was under the care of is no longer able to support her so all of her future bills will have to be 100% covered by us. We are not a rescue. Every dog that comes through our doors if they are not covered by a 501c3 rescue falls on us to house, feed and rehabilitate.
Grace's bills will be tremendous. Our rough estimate puts us at $860 for the treatment alone. We expect her actual cost to be north of $1k. We have started a GFM to help offset some of the financial cost to give this girl a chance at a better future. We know times are tough. If you can't support, like, comment and share. On behalf of reactive dogs everywhere, Polo asks to please remind your friends and family to not touch a strangers dog. Especially when their owners back is turned 🫠🥴 Dogs who are out in public are not public property. She would also like to shout-out the man who on first pass did try and approach her (& scared her) but the second time around listened when I asked him to give us space & hang out and chat so she could work through her initial fear. That was huge for her!
Working through fear and reactivity can feel very isolating at times. Progress isn't linear and growth always comes with some discomfort and failure. Don't give up. You've got this 💪🏼

Thank you to everyone who wrote in your suggestions & everyone for helping us pick the perfect name for this absolute gem of a dog. She is settling into camp as much as to be expected after living on the streets starving for God knows how long. She is having a hard time adjusting to eating regularly and it has been rough on her system. She is on a re-feeding schedule to slowly adjust to eating & get her system used to working like it was designed to. Thankfully she is as sweet as ever and radiates peace & joy in spite of how she feels. She greets us with the sweetest smile and give you her paw to hold as she presses her sweet head into your chest. Just wanting to be held at all times.
We have been overwhelmed with everyone's donations. We truly cannot thank you all enough. We are so grateful to have so many fierce, generous, kind, dog lovers in our Dirt Road Dogs family. Our community continually proves that when s**t hits the fan we can support & come together. Your donations will all be put to use in more ways than one.
Unfortunately when it rains it pours. We received a heartbreaking phone call two days ago that one of our fosters was recovered in an animal cruelty case by law enforcement. The human that adopted her and was supposed to care for her instead, abused and neglected her. Thankfully she was saved in time and we were informed. Alex and I are currently driving 4 hours round trip to go get our girl back.
We will post more information once we have her back & get the green light from the DA / Animal Control to talk about what has transpired.
Hug your dogs close for us tonight and for the love of God please get them microchipped & keep it updated.
