Pet parents often like to return to the grooming salon for their pets before the dog is ready to go home.

This is not a good idea. It’s best to wait for the groomer to contact you.

To get an idea of what it’s like for the groomer, tell your dog that he gets to go for a ride, get his collar and lead, get your keys, then get some razor sharp scissors and trim right around his eyeballs.

Did you know?
If you have a pacemaker, you can put it in your Will to have your pacemaker donated to a dog in need after you pass. Pacemakers cannot be donated to another human, but they can be donated to dogs with cardiac issues who would depend on it to stay alive.
You can have the pacemaker brought to a vet of your choice. So many of those get thrown away and dogs die because people don't know they can do this. It even saves the dog's owner the cost of the actual pacemaker which sometimes means the difference in being able to afford lifesaving treatment or not.

Fun Fact Friday!

A dog’s skin is very close to a neutral pH, and significantly more alkaline than human skin, so the kind of shampoo you use on your dog should be much more neutral in pH than the typical pH value of shampoo formulated for human hair (“pH balanced” shampoos for humans are around 4.5-5.5, making them much more acidic, and ultimately very irritating to a dog’s coat and skin). Over time, acidic shampoos also strip away the hair’s protective qualities, removing valuable oil from the coat and skin, resulting in dry, irritated skin and a dull coat.

Hey Dog Parents!
Have you ever wondered what things you can do at home for your pup in between grooming appointments?

While everyday brushing helps to prevent mats; remember to take a metal comb to check for any tangles after brushing.

Below are links to some of the tools that I use at home and in the salon on my own dogs. The Daddle Doodle Slicker Brush is great for Doodles and Heavy Coated breeds. The Paw Brothers Greyhound Comb is great for checking for any knots or tangles after thoroughly brushing the coat.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support throughout my pet career I started off as Pet Sitter to the Rescue (in home pet sitter) in 2020 and then I became a dog walker only in 2023 while bathing dogs at a grooming salon and graduated from pet grooming school in November 2023 and began my journey in the pet grooming industry. Dana was one of the many pups I got to pet sit for back when I was “Pet Sitter To The Rescue”
My aunt would see Dana and her sister Clarabelle at FWA when she was getting ready to head back to Dallas. She would walk up to them like she’d always known them. We all thought how incredible it was that these dogs were able to help ease people’s anxiety before getting on a plane. Dana will be missed 🐶💔🌈
