Small business Saturday 11/30 11-5pm 1124 Central avenue Middletown. Second floor.

A lot to do in downtown Middletown: carriage rides, ice skating, free kids craft station, Free Hot Chocolate, shopping in the Pendleton and other shops.

Grab some lunch or come later to watch the Santa parade and tree lighting.

What's new? Gluten-free Old World style Christmas cookies, loaded with home ground spices, but gluten-free! Available for tasting and purchase this Saturday at West Chester Market from 2-4pm in Muhlhauser Barn, or pickup Friday, Dec 16 through Monday, Dec 19 at my home. Cookies pictured are traditional Weihnachtsplätzchen-- springerle, pfeffernüsse, glazed gingerbread, and cinnamon stars. Vanilla shortbread, cardamom cookies, almond sugar cookies, and snickerdoodles are also available. Purchase as singles or samplers. No wrapping needed for the samplers--the cookies come in their own hand-decorated gingerbread house box! Each box includes 4 large cookies and 3 small cookies for $17. Cookies are individually wrapped, not loose as shown.
The four springerle flavors offered are the traditional anise, plus cinnamon, Fiori di Sicilia, and toasted sugar.

Freshly ground Lebkuchengewürz, AKA German gingerbread spice. This is the base spice blend for many traditional Christmas cookies and cakes. Based on the bake, additional spices and flavorings are added with the Lebkuchengewürz to produce a little bit of heaven. Why grind my own? It just tastes so much better! Definitely going into my gluten-free Pfeffernüsse and Braune Lebkuchen! West Chester Market December 17 from 2-4pm in the Muhlhauser Barn.

Baking and Honey News! **Baking News** AKA the good, the bad, and the ugly: there's some improvement with my arms and generalized paresthsia with more PT and tests on the books (good). There's not enough improvement though, so Doc says no large scale baking for 2, maybe 4 weeks (bad). So no market for me before October 8 (ugly). Aaaaargh!!!!! **Honey News** AKA nature's chemists: the mild temperatures and abundant rain in late summer have resulted in an extended goldenrod bloom with lots of nectar and pollen. Looks like mid-October we'll harvest some lovely honey! #fallvibes #honey #eatlocal #Bees

Lots of little ladies have moved in to one of Dwight's swarm traps. They'll be moved to a hive later. Bees on the move are extremely gentle because they don't have an established territory to defend, and many beekeepers will handle swarms without any protective gear. But as these bees have been in place for a few days, Dwight will be fully kitted out for the transfer.
