Hamilton County Dog Wardens are URGENTLY seeking information about an estimated one-year-old male St. Bernard dog left at the Hamilton County animal shelter, Cincinnati Animal CARE, in the early afternoon of Friday, June 14th.
Asgard, as named by CARE staff, was found in the Bond Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati, near the intersection of Andina Avenue and Reading Road, though he could be from anywhere. Upon arrival, he was non-responsive and weighed 42 lbs, only 25% of what an adult St.Bernard male should weigh. Despite our best efforts to save Asgard, unfortunately, he did not make it. We believe the cause of death is related to extreme malnutrition and lack of veterinary care. Further forensic analysis is currently being conducted.
St. Bernards are an uncommon and distinct breed of dog, and we are hopeful that someone will recognize this young pup.
If anyone recognizes this dog or has information that may help the case, please call the Hamilton County Dog Wardens at 513-541-7387 or email [email protected], and reference ID #6584. Tipsters may remain anonymous.

Who is looking for a pup on wheels?

Look into my eyes, says Claire, who is available for adoption through Care Alliance. Claire is a beautiful tortieshell that was rescued from a bad situation. She is estimated to be about 4 years old as of 1/2024.
Claire is a very sweet, loving and laid back girl. She absolutely loves attention and will lay on your lap as long as you allow...of course pets are required. Claire also is talkative so she would be perfect to keep you company. She also does great with cats and dogs.
Claire is not on site so an approved adoption must be completed before a meet & greet can be arranged. At that time if it works out she can go home with you then.

ADOPTED!
We are going to post this sweet sad man again because our hearts are breaking for him.
He came in beat up, full of ticks and so confused. You can tell he is really missing his family.
And he must have had a great family. He’s is neutered, well cared for. His nails are trimmed. He is well trained, has perfect manners, housebroken, crate trained. All the signs of being well loved. He has the softest smooshable face!
But his personality though, That’s what will break your heart. He has such a soft gentle way about him and is so grateful for everything we are doing for him.
We gave him a bath to clean up his wounds and start removing the literally thousands of ticks from his body. He was a perfect gentleman even though he’s hurting.
A quick dog test shows him to be quite submissive. We will do more behavior assessing as he settles in.
But we really want to get him home to the family he loves.
He was found in Mt Aire Rd in Ripley Ohio.
Please share him so his family can find him. Please message or call the shelter if you know him. 937-378-3457
We are going to stop calling him “him” now.
We named him Royal.
Because he is.

Animal Fosters - please share your foster stories with others here in hopes it encourages them to foster. FOSTERING SAVES LIVES! There isn't one shelter who isn't bursting at the seams right now. Who doesn't have the room for one more dog, but they just keep coming. Fosters are needed so badly.
We hear, "I just can't foster becuasue giving the dog back would be so hard." Well seeing them waste away in the shelter and potentially face euthanasia is harder, so please consider that side of their story. If you are able to foster, now is the time to step up! You can even give it a try on a temporary basis if you have concerns.

End Puppy Mills! Did you know that an estimated 170,000 breeding dogs are currently living in United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)-licensed commercial facilities for breeding purposes this very moment.
An estimated 10,000 puppy mills exist in the United States (this includes both licensed and unlicensed facilities).
Over 2 million puppies are bred in puppy mills each year.
While an estimated 3 million dogs are euthanized in shelters every year.
Help end puppy mills by educating yourself & others. Never buy a dog from a pet store and always choose adoption as your only option.

📢 Calling all animal lovers! 🐾❤️
🏠 Overcrowded Shelters Need Your Help! 🆘
🚨 Urgent Plea for Adopters and Fosters 🚨
Did you know that shelters in our community are currently facing a crisis? They are bursting at the seams with adorable furballs who desperately need loving homes. 🐶🐱
These shelters have become overcrowded, with limited space and resources to accommodate the growing number of homeless pets. This heartbreaking situation leaves shelter staff and volunteers overwhelmed and working tirelessly to provide care and love to these innocent souls, but they simply can't do it alone.
By opening your heart and home to a shelter animal, you become their hero and give them a second chance at a joyful life. Whether you're ready to adopt or consider fostering, your support can make a significant impact. 🌟
❤️ Adoption: By adopting, you not only save a life but also gain a loyal companion who will bring endless love, laughter, and happiness to your home. Don't shop; adopt! Visit your local shelter today and find your perfect match. Remember, they're just waiting for their forever family to take them home. 🏡💕
🏠 Fostering: Fostering is a temporary solution that provides a safe haven for these animals until they find their forever homes. It's a rewarding experience that allows you to make a difference without the long-term commitment. You provide love, care, and socialization, while the shelter takes care of their medical needs. Together, we can give these animals the best chance at finding their perfect match. 🤝🐾
🔁 Please spread the word! Share this post, tag your friends, and encourage them to take action. Together, let's find loving homes for these deserving animals and relieve the burden on our overcrowded shelters.
📢 Let's make a difference! Adopt, foster, and save a life today. 🐾❤️

Volunteer orientation is underway for the My Furry Valentine 2023 adoption event taking place this weekend at the Sharonville convention center. This is our 12th year doing this event and we couldn’t do it with our amazing volunteers so many thanks to you all.
It’s happening… last night we had our kick off meeting for the My Furry Valentine 2023 event!!!
My Furry Valentine is committed to the vision of a world where there is no more shelter euthanasia. A world where there is no longer a need for a mega pet adoption event. A time when we become a “No Kill” nation! But until that day comes, we will continue our efforts to educate our community about the importance of adoption while providing a platform to connect animals in need of a home with people willing to give them one. In doing so, we will be working alongside our rescue, shelter and other animal welfare counterparts who are implementing spay and neuter, foster care, trap-neuter-return, foster networks, pet retention, and other comprehensive adoption programs, all with the ultimate goal of one day becoming a “No Kill” nation. With every event My Furry Valentine hosts, and every animal adopted, we are one step closer to that goal.
Every day, an average of 9,000 cats and dogs are euthanized in shelters across the United States. In fact, euthanasia is the leading cause of untimely death for healthy dogs and cats in our country. Each year, 7.3 million animals enter shelters nationwide, patiently, hopefully, waiting to catch the eye of one of the 12 million families who will bring a new pet into their home. But many Americans still get their new pets from places other than rescues and shelters, and so an estimated 3-4 million animals die unnecessarily every year.
We can change that!
If just 1 out of every 5 people bringing a new pet into their family were to adopt from a shelter or rescue, the Humane Society of the United States estimates that not one single healthy cat or dog would lose his or her life in a shelter. While these statistics don’t tell the whole story, they hopefully reinforce the notion that by welcoming an adoptable animal into your family, you’re doing more than saving one life – you’re helping us rewrite the script for all homeless animals.
Since our inception in 2012, My Furry Valentine has grown in size and popularity. It is through the help of countless numbers of friends, colleagues, and volunteers that My Furry Valentine has become one of the largest animal adoption events in the country! The hundreds of adoptions that take place during our event give homeless animals the chance they deserve at joining a loving home and family.
The My Furry Valentine events are only made possible through our host, sponsors, funders, donations from individuals, participating vendors and business donors, advertising/PR/media partners, our event volunteers, and our rescue and shelter partners who work tirelessly each and every day throughout the year, with an unyielding passion and commitment to the cause, the My Furry Valentine Organizing Committee who volunteer thousands of hours into bringing the adoption events to the Cincinnati community, and most of all, our event attendees who come to support and adopt.
Please visit the My Furry Valentine event to learn more about what we are all about, support our efforts, and find your new best friend.
