At Groomer Has It, we know that brushing your dog's coat is just as important as their grooming sessions! Regular brushing helps to keep their fur tangle-free, reduces shedding, and promotes healthy skin. But with so many types of brushes out there, it can be tough to know which one is best for your dog. Let’s break it down:

1️⃣ Slicker Brush: Great for detangling and removing mats. Perfect for long-haired breeds like Poodles or Shih Tzus. Gently work through their coat in small sections to avoid tugging.

2️⃣ Pin Brush: Ideal for dogs with long or silky coats, like Cocker Spaniels or Collies. This brush helps to remove loose fur and prevents matting without irritating the skin.

3️⃣ Bristle Brush: Best for short-haired dogs like Beagles or Boxers. This brush helps to remove loose hair and distribute natural oils, giving your pup a healthy, shiny coat!

4️⃣ Comb: A comb is a fantastic tool to use after brushing, especially for dogs with curly, wavy, or thick coats like Doodles. It helps to separate tangles and mats that your brush may have missed, while also distributing oils evenly through the coat for a shiny finish. Use a wide-toothed comb to gently go through your dog’s fur, especially in sensitive spots like behind the ears or under the armpits.

For Doodles (and other curly or wavy coats): The Slicker Brush and Pin Brush are your best friends! A Slicker Brush is great for tackling tangles and mats, while a Pin Brush can help keep the coat smooth and shiny. Be sure to brush all the way down to the skin to avoid matting!

Did Santa bring a new puppy? 🐶🎁 We’re here to help make their first grooming experience positive and stress-free!

The first visit can be overwhelming, as it’s often their first time away from mom and dad. We start with a bath, blow dry, nail clip, ear cleaning, full brush-out, and light trimming around the face and feet, if needed. We also introduce them to clippers and let them explore all the new sights, sounds, and smells in the salon to make them feel comfortable.

For the best experience, puppies should visit the groomer between 12-16 weeks, after their first round of shots.
